I've just compiled some information and a map of some off the beaten track Beatles attractions for The End and Johnny BC (so look out for some post!) and it's reminded me that the lads have played right by where I live. Ok, I'm lucky, being from Liverpool, obvious you may think, but not THAT obvious. I'm in Crosby, about 6 or 7 miles up the coast from Liverpool city centre and The Beatles all came from south Liverpool... quite far away Anyway, a two minute walk from my house is St. Lukes Church, where they played the Youth Club (but I don't know when). A 5 min walk in the other direction is the site of Alexandra Hall where they played (just once I think) on Thursday 19th January 1961, exactly 49 years ago today! The hall sadly was demolished a few years ago, in favour of new apartments being built, it's a nice enough new-build, but sad that we lost another piece of Beatle history. A mile or two down the road in Seaforth is The Lathom, where they played a few times and has Stu Sucliffe links, just up the road from there is the former Litherland Town Hall, which is credited as the birthplace of Merseybeat. So, I was wondering, how close to your house/flat/apartment where you live did they play? If you don't know, research it, could be fun what you find out!Maybe you live in some far-flung corner of the globe and they played a local gig there. Do you know anyone who was there? Any interesting stories?

Oooh, cool topic! The boys played at Municipal Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on September 17, 1964. Kansas City is about a four hour drive from where I live, but I've been there a LOT. Great shopping. Anyway, here's a little bit of information I found about the concert... The show had to be stopped when hundereds of fans rushed the stage. Beatles publicist Derek Taylor asked the crowd to settle down, or the police would have to cancel the show. Two businessmen took the sheets the Beatles used during their stay at the hotel, and cut them up into one-inch squares and sold them for $1.00 apiece. They did sell them all, netting them $159,000.I can't even imagine being on a stage and suddenly hundreds of crazed fans are rushing toward me. That's terrifying!

The Beatles played Romford, which is just up the road from me, twice in 1963! Apparently, there was a near riot and they had to be locked in the police cells for their own protection! Sounds like a typical Friday night to me!! LOL

ok i've got locations i can use for this one.
home town being Gloucester they played Newent Town Hall (one of the last gigs with Pete) - that's about 30-40min drive from my parents house so bit far out, same with Stroud Subscription Rooms (often quoted as first gig Southern gig). The Silver Fox where they would have eaten when traveling to Newent or between London and Wales was still there up until a year ago and did good food. They played Cheltenham Odeon cinema (20 years and 12days before i was born! - so didn't miss that gig by much)- it's still a cinema! At Notts Beatleday I actually managed to get two photos from that gig! They also played the Regal cinema in Gloucester city centre (it's now a weatherspoons pub), and i'd say that was a 20 min walk from my parents.
As for Stoke on Trent, they played the King’s Hall, in Stoke - that's 20-30min walk from this computer. They also played the Gaumont, Hanley (think that's now the Regent Theatre), which would make it 10-15min walk from where i'm sat. They played Trentham Gardens (i think i've got a local magazine somewhere with pics from their gigs here), that's about a 30min drive away. Sadly where they actually played there has been torn down. But there's a charming little retail village and a garden centre there now (oh & a Frankie & Benny's!)
PS this one will just be of interest to Rhian - i've just found out the Beatles played the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton - we could have sat on park swings drinking hot chocolate before a Beatle gig! And the rest of the silliness that accompanies our Buxton trips!

The Beatles once played in Vancouver. I think they played there August 22 1968. I don't know about any other dates, but I do know that they played in Vancouver.
