THE NOWHERE BOY MOVIE HAS WOKEN AN ERGE IN ME TO VISIT LIVERPOOL(LENNONS HUNTS). I`VE BEEN GOING TO LIVERPOOL SINCE I WAS 9RS OLD.1980 AS A LOYAL LIVERPOOL F.C. FAN WITH MY DAD. THE CITY HAS CHANGED SOOOOO MUCH OVER THE LAST 3 DACADES.ITS A BIT SAD REALLY.ALTHOUGH THE PEOPLE REMAIN THE SAME!!.I`VE MADE SOME GREAT FREINDS OVER THE YEARS VISITING. REGRETFULLY MY BEST MATE IS NOW LIVING IN MELBOURNE AUSTRILIA.IF HE HAD BEEN HERE I COULD HAVE CALLED ON HIM TO VISIT LIVERPOOL,AS HE IS LIKE MYSELF A TRUE BEATLES FAN. I LOVE THE CITY,ITS PEOPLE..I`VE HAD GREAT EXPEIRIENCES OVER THE YEARS.MET PETE BEST,THE GUY WHO GIVE PAUL MCCARTNEY "DEL SHANNONS LITTLE RUNNAWAY 78",AND NUMEROUS LIVERPOOL FOOTBALLERS. WHEN IN THE POOL AND A FEW DRINKS ONBOARD I ALWAYS GOT THE URGE TO VISIT GAMBER TERRACE OR STRAWBERRYFIELDS AND GO TO SLEEP THERE.! ALSO I WOULD SOME NIGHTS MAKE MY WAY DOWN TO THE ALBERT DOCK AND LOOK UNDER THE RIVER MERSEY BELIEVING THE BEATLES WERE DOWN THERE PLAYING A GIG AT THE CAVERN AND THE HOLE MERSEY BEAT THING WAS STILL ALIVE..... ALSO TO MENTION MY WIFE BABY SITS KEN BROWNS GRANDAUGHTER(SILVER BEATLES FAME).... JON.

You should follow your urge - book a weekend away, maybe some of our forum's resident merseysiders will share a drink with you!

THE NOWHERE BOY MOVIE HAS WOKEN AN ERGE IN ME TO VISIT LIVERPOOL(LENNONS HUNTS). You and me both, friend. I may actually be studying abroad in a couple of semesters in Chester, UK, which is (from what I've been told) something like 40 minutes away from Liverpool. There's no way I could be in Chester for a semester and not visit the 'Pool! Everything I've heard about it is downright cool and I would love to go sometime.

You should go at least twice while you're over - once over August Bank Holiday for Beatle Week where Liverpool becomes one huge street party dedicated to The Beatles, and once AFTER Beatle Week, when it's quieter!

Chester, UK, which is (from what I've been told) something like 40 minutes away from Liverpool. Correct Chester is very eaisly accessable from Liverpool on the local rail network - Merseyrail (about 4 trains an hour, 5 and sometimes 7 days a week, depending on the time of year) see www.merseyrail.org for a network map and more information. I agree with The End, a visit during International Beatle Week is a MUST, but go into it well prepared to get the best out of it (ie consult us seasoned IBW folk on here!). Equally, a visit at a quietier time is also a must, although that is hard in Liverpool as there is always something on, and a lot Beatle related. To guide you around you have two main choices: Purchase "The Beatles' Liverpool - The Complete Guide" by Ron Jones Or... Save yourself £6.95 and get in touch with me! I'm cheaper than Cavern City Tours (ie FREE!)

I've noticed in this section a mention of Beatles Week. Does anyone know if the Cavern Club people still run it? I would really like to go over this year and have sent a few emails to the bookings@beatleweek.co.uk and info@cavernclub.org addresses and haven't received a response. I know it may be a bit early in the year but coming from Australia there is a bit to organise and I would like to start planning now.
Thanks for your help.

Well I'll see ya there in August then! Totally agree with you about Pete Best - I've met him a couple of times and you're absolutely right, he is a true gent. And you certainly did stir a few similar feelings - I'm now hoping to get up to the 'Pool sometime in March! Can't wait! AL

I would definitely love to be there for Beatle Week! I'd have to plan to come a couple of weeks early, because I don't think that the term at U of Chester starts until two or so weeks after Beatle Week. I'm totally okay with that though...it would give me a little time to explore and settle in and all that. Nowhere Man: I might just take you up on your offer! I'll definitely be in touch with everyone here before I go, though, just to double and triple check what to go to and what to avoid, do's and don'ts, that sort of thing. Wow, people have told me it's easy to get around England, but I didn't realize it would be as easy as hopping on a train! (Can you tell I've never been?? Cue tourist jokes )

Damn tourists!! LOL So, is it this year you're coming over or next? I know, it's awful really. The projected date is 2011. I have to secure the finances...at the moment, I've got the grades and the qualifications to be there as early as fall this year, but I just need to get the money in line. If I can get a scholarship and save up enough money to cover personal expenses and travel, it'll be all set. So I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be at Beatle Week 2011!
