My feelings on John and Paul is that they were always trying to out shine one another in the quest to write better songs, hence the quality just kept getting better. John truly hated Paul when they split up...........agree or disagee?

i think they did try to do better songs than eachother but in a jokey way. it's doesn't mean they are not friends,i just thinks it's like a competion. like, john jumped to the chase and wrote a hard days night the day before recording so he could do the title song before paul, and paul made up birthday in the studio.

I think they did get on - from what I can tell, they were very close but emotions ran too high for them to stay like that. The animosity seemed to fade as the 70s went on. There was definitely competition between them but it spurred them on to produce greatness. No friendship is ever straightforward.

John was seriously miffed that Paul announced the break-up of The Beatles when it was actually John that left first. Added to that, Paul used the publicity of the split to sell his new album!
The animosity did fade with time but John was a very angry man in the early Seventies!

Of course they did but when business gets involved in friendship it nearly always doesn't work out. Coupled with the fact they had spent so many confined years together whether on tour, writing together or in the studio, something had to give in the end. Two big personalities were never going to stay together forever.

i think they got along, you know how friends (especially guys) compete with each other like who could do most push ups I think the competition got really fierce when the fun died and it all became business.

I don't think the Beatles as a group would have lasted as long as they did if the main protagonists didn't get along. They were together for 13 years, 1957 -70 which is quite longevity for the pop business. More so than most of their rivals The Beatles were under a lot of pressure in terms of touring and fans expectations. The group only had to be able to rely on each other to get through the experience.
