Another great love of mine is the girl-group sound of the Sixties - I have absolutely stacks of this stuff and I'll be posting some of my favourites here.
This is apparently my most played track on iTunes!! I discovered this track through my obsession with The Sonics - it was on a record label compilation. Sadly this was the only record released by Marilyn Lodge, a one-time member of The Sonics. The name she used was chosen out of a telephone directory (!): "Mayalta Page".

This is a great song, it's a shame it's her only release. Still, it must have a b side, so there is at least one more song of hers to listen to.

I've always thought The Bangles were a great girl group.

Oh yes. Their recording debut is a 5 cut EP called 'Bangles' - they actually had a different bass player for this EP. The harmonies are unreal. It is very tight power pop. By far the best thing I ever heard from them. If you dig layered female harmonies, this individual recording is a classic and really worth the effort to find. The only other girl group I've ever heard with better harmonies was The Roches.

Hi BEATLES fanatics! I am so glad that I found this thread, there are a few legendary ALL-FEMALE bands, some came from Motown. Someone mentioned THE BANGLES, I LOVE THE BANGLES! Others are DIANA ROSS & THE SUPREMES and THE GO-GO'S. Another great legendary band is THE RUNAWAYS, here's one from THE RUNAWAYS! Enjoy!
