Hi,
Hope I'm not repeating what has already been posted or clarified but I haven't seen much of anything on what I consider an important topic.
Most of us are probably aware of the plans for corporate (commercial) release Sept. 9 of remastered versions of the standard Beatles albums as well as mono versions of all available songs.
About six months ago (thanks to considerable help from BlueMeanie and Bobber) I was able to download all 57 of the "FLAC"-format Purple Chick editions of an immense amount of Beatles material---expanded editions of the standard studio album releases and much more. I have enjoyed immensely the quality of these recordings which, compared to the commercial CDs, provides added dimensions of depth-presence-clarity of sound. Several questions have arisen about the Purple Chick Beatles renditions.
Can anyone out there conjecture what level of quality the remastered corporate editions of Beatles CDs might provide? Even though the corporate/commercial edtions have the advantage of access to original Beatles tape recordings, I truly question whether they can put together CDs that would match the quality of Purple Chick as the latter was apparently put together by not just devoted fans of music but persons with in-depth audio know-how and access to several good sources (e.g. the Mobile fidelity vinyl discs) with the sole intent of providing the very best listening experience. The commercial release would more likely be motivated for purposes of getting product out there in the marketplace and making a buck even though I'm sure that there will be an improved sound compared to prior CD releases. Certainly the commercial release would not provide the depth of material as, for example, Purple Chick's "White Album" was comprised of a whopping 12 discs of material.
A couple of other questions come to mind. Since I downloaded the Beatles on Purple Chick has any other Beatles material become available? Importantly, how might one now download these 57-some Purple Chick discs? (I was about ready to write a friend and share with him the links to Purple Chick Beatles downloads when I first checked out these very same links that had provided all this wonderful material and received the message "Unfortunately, the link you have clicked is not available". Does anyone know how to get this stuff now?
I look forward to everyone's comments on these subjects!!!
You-all take care out there!!!
