I wasn't able to reply to this post in the correct section, possibly because I am not on the expert panel.
I agree, Brian's death did not completely cause the demise of the Beatles but I think it did have a major impact on their future. For instance if he hadn't died I don't think Paul would have had the same artistic control (possibly heavy-handed) over the Beatles he did have from 67 onwards. Also, Allen Klein would definitely not have got his claws into the Beatles if Brian was still around. It is unlikely Apple would have turned into the disaster it did with Brian still at the helm. They did have a lot of respect for Brian and just may be things may have taken a different path. Of course any answer to this question is purely speculation but I think John's comment on Brian's passing certainly gave a true insight when he said "I knew then we'd f*****g had it!"
You're right he wasn't the best business man. He didn't know how to even get them a gig at first and used to get his friend, Joe Flannery, to book them. The least said about Seltaeb the better! However, it was a learning curve for him and don't believe anyone would have done a better job than him because the Beatles were first to do so many things that future rock bands would end up doing so much better i.e. touring, merchandising etc

I don't think Brian had much to do after they stopped touring in '66. I think he would have been able to organise Magical Mystery Tour a little better than Paul. He may also have run Apple a little more smoothly, though by that time The Beatles were their own men, and would have done what they wanted to anyway. I think Apple was a monster waiting to happen from day one, and nobody but the four of them could have stopped it, because nobody but the four of them was responsible for it.
Let's also not forget that Brian wasn't the greatest businessman on the planet. He cut himself some very good deals, and some awful one's for them.
