Here's a quick guide on how to play and convert FLAC to mp3. However, FLAC is a lossless format though (i.e uncompressed and CD quality) so the best solution is always to burn the tracks straight to CD instead of converting them. The Best Way to Convert These FLAC Files to MP3 Files is to: 1 Make sure you have WinAMP installed on your computer with the FLAC library support plugin: www.winamp.com/plugins/details/131643 2 Check that you have iTunes or one of these other media players installed - Real Player, Windows Media Player, or Yahoo Music Player. 3 Find the output section and select it. This will be on the plugins screen. 4 Go to the null soft disk writer and select that. Click on confirm at the bottom of the screen. 5 Go to the directory and decide where to save the file. Make sure that it has a .wav extension. 6 Save the files you have created to the folder that you have selected. 7 Close this window and return to the WinAMP program. 8 From here, go to the folder you have saved the music in. 9 Select all the files in the folder; hold the shift key to do this. Once done, select the open option. 10 Press play and WinAMP will go through and decode all the FLAC files and turn them into wav files. 11 Switch WinAMP back to output so that it will play the files instead of decoding them again. 12 Now when you go to iTunes and will import these wav files from WinAMP. 13 Once imported, iTunes will convert them to iTunes files. 14 Remember to create a folder in iTunes to save the files to when importing them.

Can FLAC be played on a standard cd-player after burning? No. You need to decode them to .aiff. You can apparently play them on your computer, but I've no idea how. It's time maufacturers of CD players and DVD players started supporting FLAC with 40 % smaller files, and no loss of quality.

Can FLAC be played on a standard cd-player after burning? I use Titanium's "Toast" to burn FLACs to CD and they play as normal CDs - I guess it all depends on what program you use.

The FLAC file itself won't play. Toast is probably automatically decoding them as it burns. Have a look at the files after you've burned them. I bet they're AIFF. It'll do the same if you have Toast set to 'Audio', and you try to burn mp3's.

Yep - Toast does automatically convert them to AIFF, sorry I didn't make that clear
