On Nov. 28,1974, John made his last public appearance before a live crowd at an Elton John concert at MSG in NYC. For that concert he used a black Fender telecaster. This year will mark the 45th Anniversary of that performance and I'm going to build a replica of that guitar in a few weeks. It is different and unique than other Fender telecasters in that it has a Gibson humbucker pickup.

I am fascinated at how you can build a guitar. They look so difficult to make. Good luck with the new project.

Actually I buy the parts and make them so they fit like the originals. If I had the machines that they have I would be making some spectacular guitars! There is a gentleman in Cincinnati that makes his bodies out of old crates that are stamped with company names. And another in NYC buys timber from demolished old buildings over one hundred years old. I wanted to build a Stratocaster from wood from Jimi's childhood house in Seattle but couldn't get ahold of the man who owns the building. It was torn down and is in a warehouse somewhere just sitting there.

45 years ago Right after this performance John met Yoko after the show and were together ever since until that fateful day in 1980, six years later.

How many hours did that take you. I had ordered the parts I needed in advance, that is usually the big hangup with doing a project like this--> Waiting for parts. But it usually takes about a week doing a couple of hours a day. Then I go back to them off and on tweking them more perfect to the original. On John's I still need to find a set of Grover tuners and a Gibson stamped pickup cover. These are rare Gibson only made them the one year 1971 for Les Pauls. You can find them for $100-300. but I'll wait for one for around $50. And thx brew for the compliment.
