I wish they would repeat that and Brian Pern as I missed most of the episodes. keep watching Gold, Knowing Me was on the last 2 Sundays and I'm Alan Partridge gets repeated on Gold quite often. Can't say i found Brian Pern remotely funny , not a fan of Simon Day . The idea of the show was good but that's where it ended , Spinal Tap and The Rutles did these things so much better.

I have to say i was really disappointed for the first time watching the new show last night, as was my other friends. I can't remember laughing out loud, just a few chuckles. It's seems to me it was a highbrid of the one show and elements of Knowing Me Knowing You. Perhaps i was expecting too much and maybe it'll get better as the series gets into it's stride but i'm not overly hopeful. I'm pretty sure this show was meant to be shown last September so perhaps the long delay until yesterday meant the team were not happy with the show. However much to my surprise the papers have given it great reviews, including 5 stars in the Times. Personally i found Mid Morning matters much funnier.

I think its a grower. His obvious demotion in the tv totem pole, thinking back to Knowing Me Knowing You with its variety feel to seeing This time which is a set of video clips. The hygiene section was both sinister and hilarious. The inability with social media and his desperate need to be right was all there. The downside is that it feels claustrophobic both is space and in that relation to the women presenter who is both professional ambitious and hardly enamoured with Alan comes across well and could be a thread that develops. I had no expectation so I think that helped. It does show in 20 years the crapness of modern day tv ie This Time not Alan.

Was Olivia Colman in make an appearance in an Alan Partridge show. I can't find a reference but I seem to recall her in a interview sketch years ago.

I watched tonight's show and wondered when did Alan get so narky. Really edgy rude anagrams thought Simon Farnaby was brilliant loved all the digs regarding his history shows. Considering Simon by a strange twist of fate was the man who presented the Richard the III excavation tv programme.

I've watched every week so far and after a disappointing start, each week has got funnier , and Monday 18th was the funniest yet. I found his doppelganger character funnier and funnier , even more so when i watched again at work with subtitles as his Irish doppelganger started singing rebel Irish pro IRA songs. Watch from 22 mins and 42 seconds. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0003fbj/this-time-with-alan-partridge-series-1-episode-4

That was the best episode. The Monty Don exposé which ended up with him plugging many products the CPR/life doll doc which was just bizarre and then the doppelganger. I did not realise it was Coogan/Partridge for about 2 minutes.
I think it is such a dark satire on that style of TV in the UK. If his early work was funny it is now dark and surreal.

The show is getting better every week .
