Best: Back In The USSR, Glass Onion, Blackbird, Rocky Raccoon, Birthday, Yer Blues, "The Monkey Song" (as I call it), Savoy Truffle, Revolution 9. Worst: Dear Prudence, Why Don't We Do It In The Road?, Mother Nature's Son, Good Night (especially!).

Worst: Dear Prudence, Why Don't We Do It In The Road?, Mother Nature's Son, Good Night (especially!). Welcome to the forum Numbernine. Even though I like Mother Nature's Son I can see how other people might not but come on! Dear Prudence?? It's one of Lennon's best! Great band performance albeit only three of them. Paul's drumming is stiff to start with but by the end in the last verse/chorus it's without doubt his best drumming on record ever. What is it you don't like about it but instead prefer Rocky Raccoon. I have always loved Why Don't We Do It In the Road for Paul's extreme vocal. It's another example, for me, why Paul is up there (and John with his examples) with the legendary rock singers; Robert Plant et al. I agree with the rest of your choices of best songs.

I am saving the bulk of my opinion on this subject for my review of the white album, whenever that board goes up. My thread is ready. I even have a brief review of Yellow Submarine ready. I will say that "Hey Bulldog" from Submarine belongs on the white album on the same side as the other animal songs, like Martha, Rocky, Piggies, and Blackbird (with Monkey moved to that side).
As opposed to "House of the Rising Sun" and "We Gotta Get Out of This Place." ;^) (Other animal songs; get it?)
Good stuff: USSR, Prudence, Guitar Gently Weeps, Martha My Dear, I'm So Tired, Blackbird, Piggies, Birthday, Mother Nature's Son, Monkey, Sadie, Revolution 1, Savoy Truffle, and Cry Baby Cry.
Hey, that's 14 songs. That would have made a really GREAT single record album.
But I wonder what a fleshed-out "Can You Take Me Back" would have sounded like?
Not so great (filler in other words): Wild Honey Pie, In the Road, Don't Pass Me By. And I've never warmed to Helter Skelter and Yer Blues.
The rest of the stuff is okay per Beatle standards and better than most recording artists' material.
