I bought the New Prodigy album (violet vinyl) and found myself throwing shapes like it was 1992 ha ha , My favourite band of course by some distance is The Beatles , followed by The Prodigy , i think they've even usurped my lovely Kate Bush now and pushed her down to 3rd in my chart . I have every Prodigy album , met them a couple of times seen them live a a few times. They don't play by the rules ( a bit like Kate ) you never see them promoting on tv yet i expect they'll be number one with No Tourists on Friday. Last time i saw them was at Wembley in 2010 for Invaders Must Die tour, i'm sorely tempted to go and see them at Alexandra Palace in November , trouble is , there's probably an age restriction on the tickets, they might say , sorry guv you're 60 we can't let you in ha ha . I think it's incredible that after 27 years they are still relevant . This is probably too noisy for most of you on here but i love it. it's official , the album is number one.

Too noisy . Not a fan . I`m still perplexed by the fact you like this band , with the fact of your age ( I`m guessing into your 50`s ) and you liking The Beatles and Kate Bush We can not really put Kate as exhibit A as she is so diverse But for me Prodigy in the early 90`s were followed by (people I worked with ) a lot of young lads who took the drug of those times then and found a lot of trouble writing there name let alone knowing a good song if it was stamped on there rubber Tyre . So explain yourself L.L.

So explain yourself L.L. i'm actually 60 now . In the eighties i hated discos , slow crap music full of drunks, to cut a long story short i heard The Prodigy's single Charly and i thought this is mad , no-one was doing music like this. The Prodigy Experience (first album is a masterpiece) Started going clubbing with my younger flatmate and friends in the nineties every two weeks , this was our summer of love with a dancebeat . The nineties made me realise how much i loved dancing , no-one does rhythms and tunes like The Prodigy. Why have they usurped Kate is because i loved everything Kate brought out up to and including The Sensual World and as much as i still bought all her albums the more recent ones i've liked less . The Prodigy have consistently pleased me with their output. Invaders Must die is an amazing album . You probably won't get them so to speak if you hate dancing but i think they did appeal to hippies who liked electronic stuff. And yes we took ecstacy and speed then but it was the perfect accompaniment to the music . Don't worry i'll be a Beatles nut again in a few days time. (done this response in a hurry , probably deserves a more in depth chat.

You ol`d bugger The dark dark 80`s I think there were about three bands I like in the 80`s and they played instruments and when the 90`s came along I breathed a sigh of relief that Rock bands were back without the nylon pants and the silk head bands But the other genre around had lots of people in large barns with illuminated sticks and dancing I did`nt get it , as I was then in my 30`s , so I was old . Anyway , I`ll let you off as we all have bands that we should`nt mention when I`m around and if there is any Kiss fans ? Be warned . And it`s clear that you`d never heard of Tangerine Dream.... I hate dancing . I guess why I loved Rock music so much , you can`t dance to it . Loved head banging though Miss my banter with Amadeus , we had some right ding dongs about the 80`s and Yes without Jon Anderson...

I remember when the rave scene and The Prodigy arrived that maybe when Dick Rowe purportedly said " Guitar bands were on the way out" that he was 40 years ahead of his time, i reckoned in 1992 that U2 would soon be on radio 2 in the fact that this new psychedelic dance stuff was having the same effect that The Beatles had when they arrived making almost everything that went before seem old fashioned. And by the way i've just picked up that 4 Vinyl edition of The White Album , what an expensive band to follow.

I won't go into the Prodigy/Kiss thing. Wasn't head banging a kind of dance in itself? . So what's up with Amadeus? I found him quite intelligent regarding music and he had a refreshing outlook about other things generally. I hope he's OK?

Ah , yes dancing and I must admit I have danced when I`ve been blind drunk , the most I could muster was a twist Headbanging Trust me it is`nt dancing in any way shape or form , you put your hands on your hips and shake yer head. This is made even easier when you have long hair . As I got a bit older (about 22 ) I got into the hippy kinda head banging , which brought your arms into it more . Amadeus has had a few health issues over the years I do miss the ol` bugger Off to see Riverside tonight , I`m very very excited about this Gig as it`s a first time seeing and I do love this band ..A lot Here am I in 1980 with perfect Headbanging hair .

I have eclectic tastes as probably my next concert will be going to see my supervisor who is conductor with The London Arte Chamber who'll be performing my favourite Mozart piece, Requiem-Lacrimosa (Mozart's death scene in my favourite film Amadeus) , maybe i'll ask my supervisor to spice it up a bit by adding some drum & bass ha ha

Well it's nice to know I've been missed. Just a couple of years of rubbish health issues between me and Mrs A. Hard to focus. That and trying to interfere with the midterm elections and blame it on the Russians. And I've also been practicing extreme listening. Unsafe listening. But also lots of great 80s stuff and great YES albums like FLY FROM HERE and DRAMA.

Welcome back Amadeus. I'm pleased that things are 'OK' with you and hopefully Mrs A too! Extreme listening indeed. As you can see, nothing much has changed - the regulars are still here and the occasional newbies contribute to a few discussion threads. Have to say that the array of albums in your post are erm, diverse to say the least, not to say controversial! Hope you can stick around.

Just got a very funny facebook message from the naive lady who is coming with me to see The Prodigy, she has been clubbing in Ibiza and loved that, but seeing The Prodigy live is a different matter altogether.
She asked me if the concert was seated or standing ha ha
I replied, seriously , you think you sit at a Prodigy gig? you dance like a maniac ha ha. I sent her this from 2015, sound is not great but it's from a phone. Everybody In The Place (and early one) and after a pause we get Invaders Must Die.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ah57vnGseM

Here's a flavour of last night , this was one of tunes on the Encore. This clip is taken from their 2015 gig at Alexandra Palace is an accurate representation of the mayhem than ensues at a Prodigy gig. This looks like official footage and is a damn sight better view than i had. We had a great view of the support act Friction a drum & bass (not my bag ) quite frankly i could have done without the support act, The Prodigy have 7 albums to select from and could have played earlier and given us an hour more. This is Take Me To The Hospital, taken from their 2010 album Invaders Must Die ...was that a shape being thrown Mr Kite? ha ha .
