Just noticed online the kicking Paul's new singles have been getting. I know he tours regularly and wonder if this plus possibly a creative writing block has had an effect on him. Do writers have a creative lifespan.

Do writers have a creative lifespan. I think they do, on the whole they seem to be at their most creative when they are young, Kate Bush wrote Man with the child in his eyes when she was 13 and for me all her best work is up to and including The Sensual World. Nothing that the Fabs did as solo artists can compete with the Beatles back catalogue. It seemed easy for the guys back in the sixties, especially Lennon and Macca could knock out catchy songs at the drop of the hat. Oh and Macca's new offering is a song called Fuh you ? which has caused some heated debate amongst fans. Apparently it's not what you think and means "For You" which begs the question why not just call the song, For You. Is he trying to be down with the kids? See what t=you think. For what it's worth, "Come to me " is not bad but it's not Here There and Everywhere. On 2nd listening Fuh You is not bad but i'm unconvinced that it means For You

I still enjoy Kate Bush and loved Ariel. I heard BBC 6 music play Another Day (New York Eleanor Rigby described by Mark Radcliffe) and Coming Up on Mark Reilly's show and they sounded wonderful. I adored Lennon's Starting Over Ringo early relaease and George could still knock out a tune. It seemed to cool off about 25 years ago.
Paul seemed to also be influenced by artistic movements and cultures and that seems missing now.

As much as i love Kate , Aerial was a difficult album for me, though i enjoyed it more when it was part of the theatrical experience at Before The Dawn .

Wish I had seen that. I think the LP was difficult but utterly beautiful and rewarding.

The way he's using it in the video, 'I want to For You' doesn't make sense and doesn't sound right. And I just don't know why he just doesn't call the song 'Fok You' lol Just my own opinion. Also these songs seem to me just left over songs from the CD 'NEW'. They all seem to be in the same writing and rhythm style he used on that CD.

Dylan really hasn't captured his old 60's style writing and was asked one time why that is and he just said it was just a magical time for him. Now John wrote some really good stuff after the Beatles. Just wish that pr*ck wouldn't have shot him to see where he would be today in writing.

Here's Paul in the Abby Road Studios doing the song... *at 1:46 in the video you will see the same steps leading up to the booth as in this picture. Almost like sacred ground if you will.
