Each Beatle has a guitar lost or missing and if they could be found today would fetch quite a sum of money at auction!
John's Hofner Club 40 sold in Hamburg in Oct. 1960 hasn't been seen since.
Paul's Hofner 1961 bass 500/1 stolen in 1969 hasn't been seen since.
George's second Gretsch Country Gentleman, the one he used on the Ed Sullivan Show in '64, he gave to a member of the Fourmost who traded it and hasn't been seen since.

Then there is John's Gibson J-160e, a jumbo acoustic guitar with a pickup. He lost it or it was stolen, so he took George's and said it was George's that was stolen or lost.

I stand corrected. Or rather sit here in my computer chair corrected.
Which of George's guitars fell off a car and was run over by another vehicle? Was it his first Country Gentleman, with the dial-up mutes? I suppose they threw the pieces in the trash and was likely incinerated.

Yeah that was George's first Gretsch CG that fell off the roof of the car as they were flying down the road. And it might have survived if it wasn't for a truck behind them running over it. As the story goes Ringo was the one that noticed a truck coming towards them flashing on his lites and noticed behind them the guitar lying on the hwy. They pulled over and ran back, but it was in a million pieces and they just left it there. Parts off that guitar would be worth about $100k (total) today!! A few parts off of John's '58 Ric325 sold for $60k!! You know if I lived in England and lived close by where that happened I'd go down there with a metal detector. Another guitar they smashed all to hell was Paul's Rosetti Solid 7 in Hamburg one night in April 1961 right before Paul got his Hofner bass.

Paul's lost 1961 Hofner bass found? Watch this video of Paul's "Find My Way" and at the 3:06 mark in the collage of instruments behind Paul playing his gold Les Paul is Paul's missing bass leaning up against a speaker.
