Sounds like a good basic beginners guitar. I'm sure George loved it when he first got it. I think he only had it about a year and then sold it to a pal in school so he could buy his Hofner President. The Hofner is the one he used in the Quarrymen and the one he used for the audition for John on the top of the bus. He passed the audition.

Another famous musician who had a Egmond as his first instrument was Brian May of Queen. He got his on his 7th birthday as a present(July 1954)and still has it to this day!! (*btw in England the Egmond 105/0 was sold as a Rosetti 276 model.)

I still have mine, a Jefferson cowboy guitar out of Philadelphia, and it's up hanging on my bedroom wall today like it was in 1955! An ad for my guitar in a comic book.: Mine is the Texan Jr. brown No.98. $3.98 a lot of money back then, like $40 today! (*click on pic to enlarge.)

The Egmond/Rosetti was my first guitar too... ... note I was playing in an empty field by popular demand!

When was that photo taken Brew? And do you still have it?

Photo was about 1963. I later added a pickup, which my Dad wired to a radiogram. This worked well until I stepped on the cable and wrenched it from the p/u.
I moved on to a Hofner Senator, and can't remember what I did with the Rosetti

I just sent off an email to the Beatles Museum to question if the bridge on George's guitar has been changed? You can see it is brown in one pic (probably walnut) and in another pic it is white (probably bone). It is the same guitar as you can see the two spots on the body are identical.
