Bump, as a plea for more Beatle knowledge ... "Can't live, if living is without ... um... it".

I've got a question:
Who sat next to John Lennon at Foyle's literary luncheon and allegedly encouraged John to write more intellectual songs?

It has to be George then. John was in hospital when the basic track was recorded. I wonder why Paul felt the need to record the bass and piano simultaneously when they were using 8 track? Ah, as you can read in a certain book, they didn't use the 8-track differently (one part per track) than in the old 2-or-4 track days. They still piled tons of stuff on each track. More tracks simply meant less BOUNCING together of things onto second (and third) machines.

At least that's my amateur impression ... what say the folks with recording studio experience?

Here's a link to his "speech" at the luncheon. www.dcguitar.net/donaldsauter/64_foyles.mp3Notice no "... lucky face" comment, absence of which explained here: www.geocities.com/donaldsauter/john-lennon.htmBut after all that I don't know the answer to your ?, Michelle Revolution ! I'll guess ... Christina Foyle?

John was sat next Lionel Bart and suggested that John should write songs more in keeping with his books. Maureen Cleave also encouraged John's writing, suggesting he write songs with "more than one syllable".

Thank you Lionel Bart. As much as the early Beatles tunes were fun, I prefer the more interesting later stuff.

Here's a new trivia question the answer to which I just learned today:
Who played harmonica on "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite"?

Quite possibly had nothing to do with it in any shape, way or form whatsover but the next time you see a reference to 'Oliver!' anywhere (not difficult with these TV reality, search for a star type thingies), you can astound and amaze your friends and be as smug as you like by telling them that Lionel Bart composed the score to that very musical! . Honest.

Here's a new trivia question the answer to which I just learned today: Who played harmonica on "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite"? Well you can take your pick from Neil Aspinall, Mal Evans, Ringo or George. But I'm fairly certain that all four had a hand (or a mouth!) in playing the harmonica at various stages throughout the recording of B.F.T.B.O.M.K.

Zipp, I can't wait to find out the answer to your trivia question - please post!
Now, here is one that sounds easy, but is VERY hard I think ...
Q: What was the first Lennon/McCartney single to chart in the USA?
