Around 1963 or 1964, Ringo was asked what he wanted to do when the music and "good luck" ran out. They had just started making some real money around the time of the interview.
What was the lifetime aspiration he gave in the answer?

He wanted to open a fleet of hair salons I think!! Ding, ding, ding (Dingle!) I remember reading this from some early interviews. I wonder what he might think about that answer nowadays!

He was even filmed walking around a hair salon nodding and smiling at the ladies under those old giant hairdryers. LOL

Didn't Maureen do styling for a while - before they married? May have been a reason he was so interested.

Interesting point... The quote - "I've always fancied having a ladies hairdressing salon, you know, a string of them in fact. Strutting around with me stripes and me tails, you know, 'would you like a cup of tea, Madam?'" - was from the same interview in which John, when asked how long he thought The Beatles' fame would last, replied "You can be big-headed and say yeah, we're going to last 10 years. But as soon as you've said that you think... we're lucky if we last three months." Possibly Ringo's comment was just a throw away Ringo-ism that the BBC happened to jump on, and decided to film him in a salon to illustrate the point - the other Beatles obviously thought it hilarious! Oh, and here's another:
Can you name two Beatles who DIDN'T play bass on the recording "Golden Slumbers"?
Extra credit if you can name THREE who didn't ... but need to give an unimpeachable reference!

Well, I think George Martin may disagree with you! On Anthology #9, George Martin says that the piano and bass were recorded simultaneously, and since Paul is playing the piano, he's not playing the bass! So, running with that, it seems either John or George is playing the bass. The three of them couldn't remember which one it was.

It has to be George then. John was in hospital when the basic track was recorded. I wonder why Paul felt the need to record the bass and piano simultaneously when they were using 8 track?

Nobody wants to answer?
Hint: The answer is on Anthology 9.

Yes! At least according to the memories of the "lads" 35 years later, which does seem a bit dodgy at times.

Yes! At least according to the memories of the "lads" 35 years later, which does seem a bit dodgy at times. yeah, but Ringo did work on a ship for a while so maybe he knew what he was talking about. Want a new question? What colour were the Blue Meanies originally meant to be? By the way, thanks to TE for his answer on the expert thread. You came to exactly the same conclusion as me regarding Carry That Weight.
