Just reading Beatles 66 (highly recommend). Late 65 and into 66, McCartney was heavily into avante garde, experimental music, beat poetry, alternative thinking etc way before Lennon was. You wonder if the reasoning behind Yoko stopping the release of Carnival of Light is to maintain the myth that Lennon it was only Lennon into the avante garde scene. If anyone wants Carnival of Light to come out. That said it probably is crap otherwise it would have been out by now. yes it's a shame people that people are under the impression that Lennon was the arty one that pushed boundaries, whereas it was Macca who was first to be interested in the Avant garde.

On the other hand, think of Revolution 9 or the weird shit What's The New Mary Jane descended to. Both are really weird, both are mainly noise, but both are at the same time actually pretty good. (Well, Revolution 9 is considered terrible but details.) I'd like to finally hear Carnival of Light, if only to just finally know what it's like.

If any Beatle had used his veto of Revolution, then John would have come back and used his veto on one of that Beatle's creations. That's why they didn't veto it. I think.

Well I disagree, Revolution 9 is one of my favorite Beatles songs. Last time I listed my overall favorites it was #4 on my list. (I need to make a new one... maybe I'll post it here when I'm done...) So yeah, I'm glad it's on the White Album.

Yesterday, I played my vinyl of Sgt Pepper, found myself as usual singing along and reading all the blurb that comes with it.Anyway i was singing along whilst reading the lyrics to "Being for the benefit of Mr Kite " and towards the end Lennon doesn't seem to sing what's on the album lyrics( i noticed another error earlier) The Lyric in question is near the end, "having been some days in preparation" but I can't make out what Lennon says , it doesn't sound like what the back of the album said. Has anyone noticed this. Nor could i hear the extra bit of nonsense on the run out, maybe this was only on the original release.

When is your vinyl of Pepper? In North America we never got the runout groove stuff or the colourful inner sleeve. Don't know about the 09 vinyl though. And I hear Lennon OK on that line. Strange.

Strange. thanks Amadeus. I only bought the vinyl a couple of months ago so it'll be a recent pressing. I played the disputed lyric a couple of times but it didn't seem to correspond to the lyric on the back cover, god knows what i've been singing all these years. As a child for "Can't By Me Love" i was singinG "Can't bammy love"(Bammy is Scottish slang for a bit mad) I'll maybe play Kite on headphones when i get home today. By the way is your forum name, in relation to in my opinion the greatest film of all time of the same name?

I must get new headphones as the volume got much quieter than without the headphones.

I also have it on CD and on both, I can clearly hear John singing "having", although admittedly it sounds as if he's slightly mumbling the word. Out of curiosity, what can you actually hear John singing?
Edit: I found this and I'm guessing this is what you're hearing (at 1:48). Having (no pun intended!) listened again I can understand where you're coming from. John's "Having" appears truncated and listening to it for the very first time without knowing the lyrics as you did, it's not unreasonable to assume that you didn't know what word he was singing. Apart from the various out-takes available, this is the version that was on the official album release.

Thanks for responding , yes that lyric "having" is so quiet , i can just about make it out on this guitar hero. (Isn't it ridiculous that so many Beatles songs have been removed from YouTube and we are reduced to the guitar hero). I pretty much know the lyrics to most Beatles songs , but it's nice to check whilst singing along when the lyrics are on the album as sometimes you find you've been singing the wrong lyrics all along. Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite is one of my favourites, it's an extraordinary song. Praise the lord for George Martin on how he took Lennon's directions and produced this psychedelic masterpiece.

I wonder, if I put my snark on mike instead of vibrate, if it would pick up the dog whistle. And tell us what note it is.
Don't know what the frequency response of my snark is. Might not pick it up.

Well I have to save for the ultra box. However I nicked the 2 cd version on line. My review. Sounds pretty damn good. Just a tad too much compression. Affects Day In The Life the most.
