Cheers again Rocky ! I`ve been having a good internet browse of their albums . We have one , if not the best Independent records shops in the North West of England Piccadilly Records . I`m in there Saturday and see what I can afford No ! They didn`t do a meet and greet , she mentioned about Covid and thanked everyone for wearing a mask . Not many people were ! I guess it would be best not too at this moment in time . Gutted really , as I`m a bit of a fan boy already !! Ironic that they cancelled Leeds last night as Tamara has a cold , and she said it was not Covid ! It`s been put back until September, hopefully they may throw another Gig in , maybe Manchester ! I did`n`t take many photo`s either , but I got a beauty P.S. Playing the self title album at the mo and it`s absolutely brilliant !

If you look carefully you can see on the guitar strap T.W.S. A not so good photo . I changed it to B&W give it a bit more , edge to it Yes, I was at the front

That is a custom made 'wide' guitar strap probably because that guitar is awfully heavy at about 10 1/2 pounds! (4.8 kg) To give you an idea the strat weighs about 7 lbs. And lugging that guitar around for a whole concert can really take a toll on a females back.

Wet Leg - Wet Leg (2022) Spotify
The debut album from the wacky ladies from the Isle Of Wight .
They have hit the big time in the U.K. and even popped over to the U.S. to do talk shows. The question is are they just a novelty single band or can they make a good go at it and keep the 3 minute generation interested . With a huge sell out tour on the way, a Glastonbury spot and the release of their album things are looking good !
So is the album any good ? The album has the great songs that I`ve been listening to for awhile the wonderful Chaise Lounge and Wet Dream and the latest Ur Mum . Lots of naughty innuendos and lost of catchy riffs and the bonkers Oh No . But the rest are dream pop fillers most with explicit lyrics so much so they really drag the album down. Maybe they are growers , but I think they could be lost in the 3 minute generation. But do wish them all the best , I just love how they just are laid back and find it insane how they have been the band of the moment . Stand Out Track Chaise Lounge 12 .
The Zealot Gene - Jethro Tull (2022) Spotify
Jethro Tull . I love Jethro Tull , always believe that they are best live band I`ve ever seen back in the back day I loved them so much they couldn`t stop me loving them through the 80`s and 90`s but all good things come to an end and Ian`s voice was not up too live shows . I saw him (Tull?) a few years ago and he had a back up vocalist singing the tricky high notes and for me it was very hard to watch a legend being reduced to a bit part of his own dynasty . But he`s still at it and from that Tour which he toured with a solo album but it said Jethro Tull on the ticket , which is odd as there are no other Tull members from back in the day . So what else would you do to get more people listening to your next solo project . Call it Jethro Tull . And so that`s caught in the net . Bit of a thing with the opening track Mrs Tibbet`s . It`s a x mas song (?) , the album came out in January , I guess it will soon be x mas . As for the rest . They are very ... Average and very safe and with just enough of the "Martin Barre " guitar riff (no he`s not on the album ) and a flute solo and you have the whole album in a tin . Ian Anderson for me is without doubt one the greatest Lyricist in Rock and a legend , but these songs are not at the same table or even the same restaurant . This album is not for me . Stand Out Track Mr`s Tibbet`s

I have heard Chaise Lounge and love the track, but I have to say I hate the name of the band.

Hello again ! I`m on holiday for 2 whole weeks and its pouring with rain . What am I to do ?! Review a new release that`s what !
Fear Of The Dawn - Jack White (2022) Spotify
love Jack and I miss Meg !
I`m guessing we all know his ol` band (?) The White Stripes . And this album is`nt that much different , I guess Jack aint ever going to do a concept album or full on Rock or an ambient album in the Himalayas. It`s got that Millennium touches around the edges , especially on Hi-De-Ho . Eosophobia has a Dub and a guitar riff and we get a reprise which I bloody loved ! Overall it`s a nice good up beat kinda album and no songs to not get weighed down with any long solos, they are short and sweet and the production is so smooth . I liked it , but will I go back to it after this first listen ? I don`t know , but I`m going to check out his other solo albums that I`ve missed out on . Stand Out Track. What`s The Trick .

9 albums left , so I thought I`d throw in a few that are basically my all time favourites and some that are the reason I got into music and more importantly albums . Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel (1970) I would be 8 years old when I came to hear this album , which is when I think about it I was much to young to be listening to this album as most of the songs are very adult themed and very bleak ! But thank God I did as it would be a main stay album of my next 50 years ! It would be Simon & Garfunkel`s last album and there best along with Simon`s incredible song writing and Garfunkel`s vocals its one of the greatest albums of all time in my humble . Bridge Over Troubled Water . Title track and opener of the album . When people ask me what`s a perfect song . This one is always the answer . Just a all round beautiful song and still sends shivers down my spine till this day . El Condor Pasa ( If I Could ) Is this the first world music song I heard back then ? I never thought about this being anything but a Paul Simon song ! It turns out to be a cover with Simon translating the lyrics Always had that deep meaning to it without even thinking about it "I`d rather be a forest than a street " and "I`d rather feel the earth beneath my feet " Cecilia An up tempo and has a feel of the duo`s 60`s Keep The Customer Satisfied . Love this song and I always thought of it as a story of a bible seller . Who knows but such a great song . So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright . A beautiful song Garfunkel sings about an american architect who had passed away in 1959 at the age of 91 ! Garfunkel had studied to be an architect and it so happens you can hear the producer on the fade out of "so long " calling out "so long already Artie " The Boxer . Simon`s probably one of his most well known song . Not much you can say about this song that hasn`t already been said Songwriting at it`s finest in my humble . The song is seeped in the streets of New York and in fact the whole album. Baby Driver . Another song that I made my own mind up off the bat that`s about someone want`s to become a racing driver and pull the girls. Who knows ! The Only Boy In New York . My favourite song on the album Just a perfect song again . 35 years from me hearing this song I landed in New York and this was playing in my head . Why Don`t You Write Me . just a foot tapper and not much to write about on this one Bye Bye Love . Never understood why the heck they put a live track on this album and not only that a cover ! Recorded in 1968 ! I guess its an album filler as it was the beginning of the end for the partnership of S & G Song For The Asking . A short but sweet Simon on acoustic guitar song that again is a throw back to those early folk days . 9

The Dreaming - Kate Bush (1982) I may have already reviewed this before on the Kate thread, but it would be nice to have a different out look on it all over again !
I`m a bit of a Kate Bush fan but hopefully I can do a unbiased review of the album that was 40 years young last week . Imagine your a 16 year old in 1978 listening to albums from 1938 . just interesting how this album was a bit before it`s time if you remember what was around that time .
With Kate`s last album Never Forever the heavily soaked in her new love the Fairlight CMI synthesizer and co produced with Jon Kelly . This time around her new album would be just Kate producing and over 2 years in the making . Was Kate being pressured by E.M.I. to hurry up that she released a single from the album a year before its release ? Sat In Your lap was a taster of what was to come .
1. Sat In Your Lap . Kate has said in interviews that she wanted the vocals to sound she was on top of a windy hill . Definitely a new direction from her previous album with a fast heavy beat of kettle drums that are not actually the real deal as no doubt the Fairlight is at play here . Not so much a chorus more of a statement " I must admit just when I think I`m King " not a song you`ll ever sing in the shower but you can see that this opener of the album your not in for a easy listening 40 minutes.
2. There Goes A Tenner . A Kate cinematic ditty in which is a bank robbery gone wrong . Again it`s all Fairight but we do get real drums this time around and from my perspective back then we don`t have a electric guitars . But I do love this one , it`s very much a fun song and we get a Marlene Dietrich impersonation at the end .
3. Pull Out The Pin . Still staying with cinematic mode we`re in Vietnam jungle and Kate`s vocals are amazing on this one for me . It`s very atmospheric with crickets and chopper blades and if anything its Army Dreamers .20 Again not a verses and chorus song and she`s not afraid of going well of the mainstream radar Interesting bit that the "Silver Buddha" lyric was that the Vietnamese would but them in there mouths before going into battle
4. Suspended In Gaffa . Love this one and always been one of my favs of Kate . Just a great song , love the piano and Paddy is on Mandolin strings !
5. Leave It Open . A dark and heavy one this one I`ve always thought and "We let the weirdness in " (backwards ?!) and you can see where the critics got the "Kate`s gone mad" from. I love this one , it`s maybe not everyone`s cuppa but I`d love to know what influenced Kate on this one as I havn`t got a clue .
6. The Dreaming . Love ! Maybe her most mainstream friendly song on the album. It`s self explanatory this one I guess Great song I guess it`s even better with the Video of Kate in the space suit
7. Night Of The Swallow . I did a poll on Twitter awhile back on your fav 3 songs of Kate and counted them up and this song was 2nd if I rightly remember , but it sure is a big fav of Kate fans . Which surprised me ! Very much Irish influenced song and interesting enough it was only released in Ireland as a single .
8. All The Love . How the heck do I give this song credit of how good it is . According to Kate . "Although we are often surrounded by friends , we are all ultimately alone and I feel sure everyone feels lonely at some time in their life " Very Howard Hughes indeed ! Wonderful again and another fav of mine .
9. Houdini . More cinematic Kate again , this time we get the view of Houdini`s wife . Another great song .
10. Get Out Of My House . Big fav of mine at the time I bought the album . And I`ve just realized that Kate seems to end her albums with very dramatic "gothic horror " elements to her albums as this was inspired by The Shining , the only book that frightened her apparently . Again a case for the critics to say she`s lost the plot as the end of the song she`s baying like a Donkey . And that`s probably why we love Kate Bush ! Not afraid to deviate from the norm as a wise drummer once said .
Stand Out Track . All The Love .
To sum up , it`s not my fav of Kate`s that does`nt make it a bad album, I guess thinking back when it came out I would been very glad of every groove in the album . Hard to say that back then it was an album of the time as I was slowly loosing faith in new music back then and I would have been so glad I had a new Kate album to listen to . It`s insane now to think it would be another 3 years before her next album in which we get the best of both worlds of Kate . Just listen to this album and then her opus The Ninth Wave and you will see the seeds were set for her to go all out Prog

I have listened to the entire LP again and I think it is bar far her most avant garde LP. I think half is pure genius Love SIYL, TD, NOTS, ATL and H. I have often wondered if Kate actually got this Lp to the standard she wanted or had to let EMI release it as they were getting annoyed at the delay. It is her proggiest LP if that is even a word she has ever made and the 14 year old me really struggled with it at the time. All these years on and it still feels like a work from the future, dark, strange and frigtening. The title track especially is a work of genius. This a LP that still shocks. So it is not the fault of the LP but me. I still have not got an handle on it all these years later. Wasn't she just 23 when she made this. Kate is simply a genius.

Yep she was 23 ! .I was 20 ! , so you`ve me feel old Pothos !
Anywho ! A new album from the wonderful Mancunian/Californian Jesca Hoop has a new one out and a tour at the end of the year , and yes I have my ticket !
Order Of Romance - Jesca Hoop (2022)
Her career has really took a bit of a change since her Memories Are Now album which was released on the Sub Pop label , which meant Jesca got more "indie mainstream" exposure and a massive U.K, Europe and U.S. tour , then Covid hit .
Next up Stonechild was even more polished with the very talented John Parish produced and it was a dark album and I love it ! So again we have Parish on board on the new album and this time it`s a bit more upbeat . I`ve give it my first listen and apart form the songs that have already been released it`s definatley not an album you dive straight into . Her songs are not your washing up albums they are really songs that need your full attention . The production as the last 2 albums are beautifully crafted and I can not wait to here it on the headphones . Hoop is a wonderful song writer and it`s sad that she will never be mainstream but without doubt through time she will find her niche along side Nick Drake , Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson . Jesca is very unique and when I get asked "who does she sound like " I always reply , Jesca Hoop . Stand Out Track Lyrebird .

Another live (?) album review and this should be an interesting one as it`s going to be a hell of a crazy train . I may not mention it much on here but I bloody love Black Sabbath . There first 6 albums are just incredible and I`d say apart from the Fab`s and Zeppelin I can`t think of many other bands have had 10 /10 albums in a row of 6 . Blooody Love Sabbath . But then after the 6th album for me the party was over and with the sacking of Ozzy they lost it for me . Yes Dio was incredible and they have done decent albums over the years , but for me never hit those heights . Then Ozzy went solo . I do not and never have liked Ozzy`s solo stuff and I`ve listened to them and I can safely say that I don`t ever want to again . So then folks with his farewell Tour on the horizon what best way than to get some old mates on board and record a new album . I`m very nervous about this one , but sometimes you have to suffer for your art .
Patient Number 9 - Ozzy Osbourne (2022 ) Spotify
1. Patient Number 9 . (Feat Jeff Beck) not a bad start , I`m always straight into the vocals and he sounds alright ?! A great standard rock track and Beck sounds on fire !
2. Immortal . ( Ft. Mike McCready ) Again a good rock track and lots of rip guitar and very short and sweet 3. Parasite ( Ft. Zakk Wylde )
It seems that we are getting very short and steady good rock tunes with guitar solo`s from the guest guitarist . Verse`s and choruses
4. No Escape From Now (Ft. Tony Iommi) Back with his ol` mate Tony and again after the fazed vocal to give it that "Sabbath" feel I guess it`s again a steady rock track . Iommi co-wrote this and it shows , this got me head shaking once it gets warmed up !
5. One Of These Days ( Ft. Clappers ) A slow of pace on this one, reminded me of a song , heck I know it ! Maybe the first song I`ve heard where Eric`s contribution fails for me . Ozzy sings "I don`t believe in Jesus " ?
6. A Thousand Shades ( Ft. Jeff Beck ) Another slow tempo one and I`m now starting to lose my focus
7. Mr Darkness ( Ft. Zakk Wylde ) So far the most sounding Sabbath sound and again this is a rocker !
8. Nothing Feels Right ( Ft. Zakk Wylde ) Not feeling this one . The trouble is now they are all melding into one with not much varied feel to the songs for me which is maybe I never got into new wave heavy metal . Maybe we`ve hit the album fillers ?
9. Evil Shuffle (Ft. Zakk Wylde ) Ozzy`s vocals are up front on this one and we get a nice little break in the middle of the song that breaks up the song from the rest that have come before . And Mr Wylde is excellent on this Like this !
10 . Degradation Rules (Ft. Tony Iommi ) Tony`s back and really has a bit of wink to Sabbath`s glory days and a Harmonica thrown in . Again a good rocker
11. Dead and Gone . Didn`t do anything for me on one, and it`s the first that`s not co-wrote with anyone it`s a Ozzy song
12. God Only Knows. Female backing singers ? duno . Again it`s a sub par song that`s almost as though it`s a single feel to it .
13. DARKSIDE BLUES. Louisiana blues ?! It`s like Zep`s "Hat`s Off To (Roy) Harper . with just an acoustic slide and Harmonica .
Well I got through it and it has some good tracks and coming from me is a saying something . Will I ever listen to it again ? Maybe not . Stand Out Track Evil Shuffle

I sat here 6 years ago and as I looked out of the window looking at the terrible x mas weather I came up with this idea . it`s now 2023 and again I`m looking at the terrible weather and I think it`s time to do some albums .
Anyway . Who would ever of thought that 6 years ago I`d be reviewing a brand new Rolling Stones album with a Beatle on it and Lady Gaga !
So here we go . For reason Spotify have but an Live Edition up . So this could be an interesting afternoon .
Hackney Diamonds (Live Edition ) The Rolling Stones (2023) Spotify
1. Angry . It sounds like early 80`s Stones . And it`s nice and catchy and the very foot tappy ! Yeh, good start
2. Get Close Again it`s a nice standard Stones catchy song . Nothing to deep and Elton John on Piano !
3 Depending On You A laid back one, but not holding my attention I`m afraid
4. Bite My Head Off Erm yeh, a fast paced rocker with a young Paul McCartney on a fuzzy Bass It sounded like Mick said "C`mon Paul give me some Bass "
5. Whole Wide World It`s interesting how Mick`s vocals sound very good and he even still has that cockney twang going on as he sings about the Capital . Bit of a guitar solo on this . I wonder who`s playing it ?
6. Dreamy Skies This could have fitted on Let It Bleed . A slow honkey tonk blues tune .
7. Mess It Up Has that "Start Me Up " rift and again very catchy off the bat
8. Live By The Sword A bit of a rocker and not anything that lights up my mojo up
9. Driving Me Too Hard Now the album is slowly melding in to the same safe 4 minute standard songs Mick doesn`t sound to good on this one which maybe that`s why it`s short and sweet
10 . Tell Me Straight. Keff sings lead vocals on this one ! If this was`nt work I`d be reaching for the skip button .
11. Sweet Sounds Of Heaven Lady Gaga on this one ! Sub par song again and it just is becoming very mundane Seems they are going for the Aretha Franklin vibe with our Gaga . They don`t do a good job
12. Rolling Stone Blues (Muddy Waters) this is better . You can not go wrong with a bit of Muddy . Mick a slide guitar and a harmonica .
Overall it`s not as bad as I expected . Will I buy it or even ever listen to it again ? Not happening . The Stones have never had to live off album sales as they have always been a live band and in my humble hav`nt done many great albums that puts them up there with the classic bands of the 60`s and 70's.
I'm happy with The Stones albums I have . This is not for me

I got word that this is so very much like Fleetwood Mac of the Rumours era So I was in .
Strays - Margo Price (2023) Spotify
I`ll not go track by track . I Have to say though there`s a constant flow of good tracks and do they all sound like Fleetwood Mac ! We get one track featuring Mike Campbell even has the Tom Petty trait obviously and again a good track. A nice easy listening album all the way and a constant flow of nice cosy songs
You could say her vocals are mimicking Miss Nicks , but that would be a bit unfair .
But I did enjoy it and probably gets even better with more listens .
Stand Out Track . County Road and a nod to Landfill

Sings E.L.O. - Juliana Hatfield (2023) Spotify
As it says on tin .
I`ve never been one for covers from anyone and a whole album of covers it`s not anything I`d go in for . But I love E.L.O. and to attempt an whole album of this band is a brave move . So here we go.
A steady flow again with each song . She sings them at the same level on every song , I`m always one for a bit of vocal range . But this has`nt got any . She does Bluebird Is Dead which a great deep cut and she makes it sound Julian Lennon recorded it. It`s a bit of a constant steady eddie sadly , could have gone with a good mix o variation of production .
Shame , but it`s a wee disappointment
Stand Out Track Strange Magic
