So, Trees Speak. Very nice and very krauty. I did like that. Makes me want to play my NEU! and CAN LPs again. They have a new album out in April ! I`ve been pondering on some really diverse album I could listen to and I`ve come up with The man`s ( The Wilson ) fav 80`s pop sensation from that dark era Talk Talk`s Spirit Of Eden . Should be fun !

Spirit Of Eden - Talk Talk (1988) Spotify
Don`t know where to start with this one .
I dare not go into this album if I liked it or not as I was kinda expecting an 80`s album with lots of keyboards and not so great lyrics Is it just me but don`t you think 80`s lyrics sound out dated . Just try any Wham song .
Very dark bluesy and Jazzy, ambient feel to it that if it got any more laid back you would be checking it`s pulse . This is an album that there is no way on earth after a first listen if you like it or not . I got to say I`m shocked of how this just didn`t fit the 80`s vibe and It would fit nicely into the soundtrack of Withnail And I . Did love the first track The Rainbow . And did they all sound the same ? So I`m at a crossroad with this album and I think it needs for you to in that right frame of mind . Interesting to note Robbie McIntosh (Macca ) Danny Thompson (Fairport etc ) and Nigel Kennedy ( Tit ) are on it Stand Out Track The Rainbow .

Chatting with Al on the tinternet and he brought up The Who`s Sell Out which is out again next week for another expensive Box Set that we all need , but do we need to fork out for it when I have a nice remaster that I think is that all you really need.
Well then , it`s been awhile since I`ve listened to it proper , so here we go !
The Who Sell Out - The Who (1967)
Released at the end of one of the summer of love that was 1967 . And don`t you know it when you listen to it this is their Sgt .Pepper and as with the previous Who albums all the thoughts that The Who are a Mod band those thoughts are well and truly out on the Rag n Bone cart and Off to Chelsea Rd to buy a military jacket or if your very lucky an Afghan coat .
The album opens up with a Radio jingle and in flows the very wonderful psychedelic Armenia In The Sky which is`nt even written by The Who but in fact written by Speedy Keen who also wrote Something In The Air by Thunderclap Newman which so happens to have been produced by Townshend . Love this song ! Interesting fact is that Keen is on backing vocals on this track which must have been a first for a non member of The Who to be on Vocals and I`m no expert but probably the last . Another "Advert " is the bloody brilliant Heinz Baked Beans that takes us to the next track Mary Anne With The Shaky Hand. The son of Pictures Of Lily with it`s naughty undertone lyrics and with that almost innocent double vocals of Daltery and Townshend with that latin acoustics and maracas beat going on again it`s yet another great song and check out the other version of this song on You Tube . Premier drums jingle brings us to Odorono Townshend lead vocals and he tells us the sad tale of a lady with body odour . She should of used Odorono . Tattoo Again it`s another tale that seems to be about that yearning to be a grown up when you were in your teens and the songs gives an almost romantic look of body art . Our Love Was A Beach Boy feel to to this song but they throw in a great little guitar that is almost Yardbird territory And next the best track of the album for me I Can See For Miles . I like to think that the band considered this as the direction they would go on their next album A classic rock song and no mistake . Can`t Reach You . Back with Townshend on vocals and it`s again a love song as he seems to take on this album. Medac An Entwistle tale of spots on Henry and was cured by Medac and now has a face like a babies bottom . Relax A short very psychedelic and I guess it would be a perfect song for the summer of love Silas Stingy . Another dark song from Entwistle , who really had a wonderful knack to write songs with that almost Edgar Allan Poe stories set to music . Sunrise Another Townshend love song and I have to say I absolutely love this song , it`s very simplistic and with Pete`s angelic vocals and a acoustic make it and of course we get that little riff that would become Pinball Wizard. Real . The opus of the album and if like I Can See For Miles wasn`t a big enough hint on how the next Who album was going then this track for me is the embryo of Tommy and we get again another piece of the next album the brilliant Sparks .
This album has always been a favourite of mine, it was one of my very first Who albums along with A Quick One and they got me into The Who Stand Out Track I Can See For Miles .

I never discovered SELL OUT until around 1990!!! Wha-what?? I loved it! I think the mix is a bit naff but the songs and ads are brilliant. I'm one of those ones who like the quirky tunes. I learned how to play Tattoo on guitar and learned how to play Silas Stingy too which I would play for kids as a warning tale of our time. I was 23! An elder statesman. Rael. I wasn't sure what to make of that one but as I had heard Tommy already it was cool hearing the Sparks theme.

I got the album along with A Quick One off my mate when I heard The Who albums as I was just at school . I just remember how I loved the feel of you were listening to a Radio . It's well worth getting the 2cd remaster for the the version of Mary Anne .

But of course I`ve got an album for ya .
Folk Art And The Death Of Electric Jesus - The Bonnevilles (2012) Spotify
A not so new album , but heck new to me and blimey it`s good stuff a dude posted it on Twitter and like the man I am I had to give it a listen , and who would`nt with that title
An Irish Duo blasting out Garage Punk , Blues Rock .
Just think White Stripes and early Black Keys . Excellent album and there is no overdubs or anything other than the two guys playing stripped back good tunes I liked this , I know this needs a few more listens before I get to over excited but I really enjoyed this album Stand Out Track . Son Of Reverbio

I know I`m getting a bit behind , but hey I`m only human .
But I thought I`d give a brand new release and someone I have had a little fleets with as this lady has she contributed with Mr Byrne ( David ) . Anyway , I was watching You Tube as I do , and a video of this artist came up and it was miss Vincent talking about her influences for this album and as mad as it sounds they were 70`s albums from Stevie Wonder , War (?) Steely Dan and Yes`s Fragile . ( Yes`s is a word ? ) And I noticed she talks like a millennium , or what ever they call them with saying stuff like "sick " and the like . Ok then enough post filler .
Daddy`s Home - St. Vincent (2021) Spotify
Well , I have to say I will not hear a album like that again for a while . I`m not all about versus`s and chorus`s (there words ?) but this didn`t have any apart from My Baby Wants A Baby which uncannily like 9 till 5 . "My baby gets the morning train" one . And Candy Darling sounds like something I`ve heard somewhere in the past . I don`t really know what to make of the album apart from the production is quality . It seems to be more style than substance Maybe it`s just me and I guess this will shift a lot of units and be No 1 for a week .

I went into town the other week and as I having a very long browse as I havn`t done that in a very long time in Fopp this album was playing and I ended up absolutely drawn into it and oh my the lyrics had me laughing to myself .
New Long Leg - Dry Cleaning (2021)
They are a spoken word Joy Division for middle class and heck they are bonkers and from South London A three piece band with a dead pan vocals from Florence Shaw who without doubt wrote the lyrics . Ah yes the lyrics . Singing about joining Knitting and oven chips from the very first opener Scratchcard Lanyard . And all through out the album the tempo is set for that punk 3 chord tracks with a very dead pan Florence telling us about her strong feelings and mundane days of the crazy world of Dry Cleaning . It`s a joy Is this album ever getting a large audience ? , I guess not, is it going to one you will still be playing many years from now ? , I guess not . But it is the now and it`s very enjoyable and if nothing else it`s fresh and very funny . "Would you choose a Dentist with a messy back garden like that ?" I choose Dry Cleaning . Stand Out Track . Strong Feelings

I discovered a wonderful mind blowing Pysch/folk song a few months ago and intended to hear the album it was from , but I forgot . But today is the day and here is a bit of a back story of said album .
Susan Christie an american singer had a few novelty hits with King Kong, I love Onions and Frank N Stein. But then started to record her debut album around 1970/ 71 , but her recorded company pulled the plug as it did`nt sound commercial enough . So she went into singing jingles for the likes of bladder control , Pepsi and Maxwell house . Bonkers But then fast forward to 2006 and a tape of the album ended up with DJ Andy Votel ( A Stockport lad and Jane Weaver`s hubby ) and he released it on his label Finders Keepers
Paint A Lady - Susan Christie (2006) Spotify
A album with that kinda back story shouldn`t sound as good this I loved most of it on the first listen and I no doubt will be playing it a lot more It has that feel of the era that it was recorded which was the beginning of the 70`s and even pop`s up with (Ghost) Riders Of The Sky Nice songs and very easy listening , think The New Seekers , but then in the middle of it all is the song that brought me to attention of Miss Christie Yesterday, Where Is My Mind A 9 minute psychedelic folk trip which I bloody love and it throws in a Hendrix Hey Joe riff ! (no idea why !) this must be the sister to Airplane`s White Rabbit . And as for the album I would say it`s very easy listening and incredible how this didn`t see the light of day until this century ! Stand Out Track . Yesterday, Where Is My Mind .

I watched The Sparks Brothers movie last night . Not a fan but I did love This Town and believe it or not folks No 1 all over heaven ditty And I loved it ! They have 25 albums and they played them all live in 25 nights ! Incredible feat . Also the lyrics are supposed to be very clever and witty and they`ve seen The Beatles twice !!
What a film and what a great story of the Brothers not giving two hoots to the Gravy train . They were all about the music
So I`m going for the album that got them a bit of fame for a bit .
Kimono My House - Sparks 1974 . Spotify
I`m sure I`ve heard this before , but I think that a lot these days .
Apart from This Town .. I struggled with the rest of the album and it was a long 40 minutes Russell`s vocals are not very pleasing on the ears and as for what he`s singing isn`t easy to understand . It`s a tough one to even pick up a song that stood out apart from This Town.. I bloody loved the film though ! Stand Out Track . This Town Ain`t Big Enough For The Both Of Us

Faster - Samantha Fish 2021 Spotify
It`s finally out and my pre ordered album hasn`t turned up yet , so it`s Spotify for me until it does .
And I`m going to do a review live , that means my typing is going to be a bit insane , so apologies for my bad English and spelling etc . Also I`m straight off after it`s done as I`m at the moment addicted to Ozark (t.V. Series ) and if I don`t get my nightly episode I`ll start throwing money in the washing machine... So here we go ! Glanced at a few comments on the ol` social media today of Sam fans with their humble opinions and they`ve been a mixed bag . A few saying she`s gone "Pop " etc etc . But the greatest band of all time are pop and I don`t mean the Spice Girls .
1. Faster .
Heard this many times now and I do love this one it sounds like velvet sounding and the catchy OooooOoooho gets you hooked right away .
2. All Ice No Whiskey.
You miss when you kiss me . Yeh , this one is a short and sweet one indeed . I have no thoughts on this one and I lift my hands in that shoulder shrug gesture
3 . Twisted Ambition . Love this one and I`ve heard this many times ! Great little guitar break and has that old White Stripes feel to it . So far the tracks Ive heard before are crackers , so it shows it a tough call to give a opinion on a first listen
4. Hypnotic . Blimey ! You remember the T.V. Tennis games back in the 70`s ? Well she must have left it running when she recorded this one . Again ! A great guitar break and this really is an almost Prince vibe And I do really think this is going to be one for the "Guilty pleasure " list for me Again another short track
5. Forever Together . Ah , mm and yeh , basic song with nothing stand out to say about this .
6. Crowd Control . This is again a very basic song which could have come off her last album Kill Or Be Kind . Liked this one. Her voice is nice and smooth on this
7. Imaginary War. Now then . This could be a cracker live , it could go off on a tangent , great guitar licks, but I could be wrong .
8. Loud ( Feat.Tech N9ne ) As I look at Spotify it shows that Sam has co wrote this with Tech N9ne , no I have no idea who he is . Anyway , it`s very laid back and I reckon I`m going to like this one with more listens even though it has that N9ne rapping on it . Yes folks there is a rapper on a Samantha Fish album . But it`s not that painful , remember R.E.M . putting us through one on Radio Song . and I`m not going to mention Rush . (oh , Rush , I mentioned them )
9. Better Be Lonely. Again it`s an easy listen short and sweet song with the chorus is the title.
10 . So Called Lover . Bit more up beat tune and again ... See above . I`m really starting to see a pattern hear and it`s that all the tracks are (so far ) just hitting the 3 minute mark . I guess when you`ve been weened on Prog and 10 minute Rock songs it`s very unnerving ( Did I mention Rush )
11. Like A Classic . Very chills and fever kinda vibe with this one , a chilled blusey ditty and it`s almost 4 minutes long ! Like this one .
12. All The Words Finally a over 4 minute song ! And I really loved this one straight off the bat . This could be a fav Sam song in time . A slow ballad and I like Sam when she does that sultry singing , and heck you don`t even get a guitar break on this one !
Final thoughts . It`s not as bad as some fans were saying She`s gone to the dark side , she`s not a blues rocker anymore etc etc . Do we want Sam to be a Status Quo and just keep the "real fans " happy Or should she evolve and try different styles and I guess be happy with what she`s doing . I`m a fan of her music and what ever she puts out , I`m not going to walk away because she`s not doing 10 minute guitar solos on a record . These songs on here no doubt will be extended on live shows and I have to say even though I`ve only seen her live twice . That`s where the real Sam Fish shines and as long as she tours I`ll be buying a ticket . Roll on next year .
29 .
Up and coming new albums from a couple of my fav artists on there way Public Service Broadcasting and Joanne Shaw Taylor . I`ve heard a couple of tracks from the new J.S.T. album and I`m not looking forward to reviewing it as she`s done a cover album of blues standards and I don`t think Joanne is at that point in her career to be doing albums of that ilk . Just my opinion of course , but you never know it may be blinder . As for P.S.B ! I`m frothing at the mouth will this one . T.T.F.N. !

Senjutsu - Iron Maiden (2021) Spotify
I don`t like Maiden and I`m not a huge lover of metal especially N.W.O.N.H.M. didn`t they call it back in the day ? .
But I`m on holiday this week and it`s raining and I think it`s time to get my bottom in gear and try and finish this project before the year is nigh .
And as we slowly come out of the pandemic and the music machine seems to be turning again , we have a new album from the Maiden . Lets see what they have come up with .
Title track Senjutsu sets off the album with lots of inaudible vocals and a repeating guitar riff . next track sounds like Run To The Hills with even more inaudible vocals in the chorus , I`ve turned up the volume and this sounds much better , but heck Run To The Hills is all over it . The Writing On The Wall . We start off with a acoustic opening the song and then were back into the Iron Maiden we all know . Not bad this one actually a great guitar solo and as with all so far it seems the vocals are a let down for me . Lost In A World . A laid back start to the track with acoustic guitars and no high pitched singing on this one and we can actually understand the singer and then we get back to the status quo of heavy riffs and high pitched vocals which we can`t sing along too . Not bad song this one though . Days Of Future Past . Back to the lots of guitar riffing and high pitched singing of the inaudible sort . The Time Machine . My nerves are starting to shred now and this one is like a poor mans Dio and his vocals are really getting on my man boobs now . I`m just hoping the next few remaining tracks are short ones . Darkest Hour With the track kicking off with the sound of the sea , with seagulls and waves I`m guessing this is not what they did on their holidays . It`s dark and moody with lots of inaudible vocals . Death Of The Celts . I`m starting now understand why I never got into this type of music as its really very cliche and this I guess this song is all about brave men with war paint and big swords and how the lady of valley waits at home and lights a candle in the window that she hopes her brave warrior comes back from the battles in other lands and hopefully brings back her a fridge magnet . I could be wrong . I think they may have listened to Lizzy`s Black Rose and Emerald when they came up with this one. But a good guitar duo , which was a trademark of Lizzy back in the day . The Parchment . A long one with not of lot of singing and again it has that Dio/Rainbow feel and I do like this one . Hell On Earth. Another long one . Start off with a slow opener and off we go with lots of guitars and the like . Again it`s not bad . I guess I`m now getting used to the vocals ?. And that folks is Maiden`s new album . As I`ve said at the start I`m no fan of this kind of Rock music and do like it in small potions and I always opt for Rainbow and Dio and later Black Sabbath and a wee bit of U.F.O. , but never I`ve never had any love for that era of Rock music . Will I try any more Maiden again ? Not a chance . Stand Out Track Parchment.

I love them. I saw them here in 1992. The very first album is a sort of goth rock affair. After that they get more world sounding and orchestral. My favorite is Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun.
