Before joining the Beatles, Pete was in a local group called The Blackjacks. A member was Chas Newby, who later filled in on bass guitar when the Beatles first returned from Hamburg.
Here is a re-union of the Blackjacks, which is of historical interest, if not musical interest!

I was just thinking: It would have been neat if the Beatles would have replaced Ringo, when he got his tonsils removed, with Pete instead of Jimmie Nicol. It only lasted for ten days in 1964.
