Sold at auction for an astounding price. Full story hereNote the phrase 'a portion of the proceeds' will go to charity. Why not all? In fact why not just donate the drum kit to a museum? People would come in their droves from all over the world to see it. Don't tell me Ringo is down to his last £60,000!!!

Looking at an image of the kit I cannot get over how much rhythm could be generated out of a small kit.

In the picture, the riding tom is concealing the snare drum.
So, Pothos, do you suppose Ringo is holding back parts of the kit? Like a second riding tom or second floor tom, or a third crash cymbal?
I think a drummer could get by rather well with what is there, with one snare, two toms, a bass drum, a hi-hat, and two crash cymbals.

The Indiana State Museum, on loan of course.. He also has two of George's guitars, a McCartney guitar, a Lennon guitar, Dylan's Newport strat, a Jerry Garcia guitar, Les Paul's Black Beauty and a few other lesser items. The place rivals the EMP Museum in Seattle. He told the AP that when he bought Ringo's drums that he reunited the Beatles after 45 years.

No I was not saying he was holding back parts of the kit. What struck me was that all those classic early hits I think I wanna Hold Your hand especially had so much for want of a better term oomph.
What kit did Ringo have after that one.

What kit did Ringo have after that one. Just a newer Ludwig kit, everything was the same.

Ringo had 6 different kits during his Beatle years. I think the kit he had with RSATH stayed with the Hurricanes. www.ringosbeatlekits.com/

By the way does anyone know if the story of the copy of the White LP owned by Ringo (very very low print number) and sold at auction this weekend is true.
Rory and Johnny paid for Ringo's kit so I can imagine that stayed with them so who owns that new is intriguing.

Here's the only pic I could find with Ringo with his very first little AJAX drum kit. Eddie Clayton Skiffle group 1957. I also read when he joined RSATH he used what they had, then he went out and bought his Premier drum kit and used that all the way early on with The Beatles. That RSATH kit was brought back out after Ringo left so his replacement drummers could use. When RSATH would change drummers, the old drummer would take little pieces of it until finally there was nothing left. lol
