What Meeting Pothos? Ringo Leaving?
Ringo's departure did not have the career ending effect that many make out. The lads played on, and had some really good drummers. Once Jimmy Tushingham joined they settled. They were still fully booked for the next few years after Ringo had gone and were still a very entertaining band that went on tours and played the circuits.

I have spoken with him. He does not live in the UK. A very interesting guy. He has told me a little and it will be in the printed book. There is a few more stories going in the printed book as well.

I was curious by this photo of Rory and his Mom. And looked at a picture of the house now. Looks like the little wall they had out front is gone. The door is gone. But after 50 years I guess you would expect that. OSR did you get to meet the people that own the house now and did they let you go inside? www.google.com/maps/@53.4090473,-2.9061787,3a,63.3y,211.77h,86.93t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s6DKef7tx3ECfq1mS33urMg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en-US *For some reason Goggle maps won't let you copy their site.

What fascinates me about that image is that that looks like the front garden has been made into a vegetable garden and those plant could be leaks.
The door has a side letterbox which is something that I recall from the 1970's and also if you look I wonder if the meddalian that Rory is wearing is the same as the one in the Astrid Hamburg image 12 years earlier. It is definitely the same one in the image on Bill Harry's page.

The wall had a raised garden behind it. One of the flowers that they grew was...wait for it...IRIS..for you know who.
The wall only came down when the present owners moved in. About 12 years ago. The door has of course been changed with the windows. Yes I met the owners and they let me look around the house. They are really nice and will be getting a copy of the book. They did say that someone wanted to put up a plaque about Rory, but they refused as they like things as they are and do not really want crowds coming around. They know all the events that happened in the house, and all the famous people who went there.
Rocky...Waterstones are going to promote the book and I will do a signing for them.

The patterned step at the house is original. So everyone, Beatles included, have walked on it.
Johnny's house still has the original front door on it and it is in tip-top condition. Pretty amazing really.

Pretty amazing really. I think I would get weak in the knees standing there. Stuff like that effects me. I remember going to Gettysburg with my girlfriend and I had to sit down at one of the battlefields where hundreds of men had died. I couldn't take it all in.

Congratulations on Waterstones as they are a big chain. What threw me when I first say Stormville is that it is a standard semi detached property for some reason in my head I thought it would look like the Casbah. Much more intimate and to think all these kids who were in bands were regular visitors. Rory and Vi looks so happy in that photograph.

Quick question, OSR. I've started reading the new paperback version of the book, and noticed that Lou bought his Framus bass from a Mrs Wood whose daughter was working away on cruise liners. Could this perhaps be the mysterious Vicky Woods, or, is it just a coincidence?

Not sure bud. But they say that Vicki was pretty young when she went to France in 62. so was she old enough to work on a cruise back then? May be ,may not be?

I really loved the story about Rory starting with "Que sera, sera", then the band joining in to segue into "Hound Dog" I'd love to hear one of the Merseybeat groups do that, it must sound great.

Didn't trust Rory and Ringo with her little darling. lol Anyways I don't have the book...yet, but didn't Walt get his Framus in early '59? I have all this stuff written down somewhere. lol BTW A RSATH celebration next Wed. the 29th anyone guess what it is for?

I do believe Vicky's mum did tag along. The photographs are amazing and it is a lovely piece of music history that deserved to be revisited
