John still being alive crossed my too. I recall that all acts from the 1960's and 70's were looked down on by 79 in the UK music press (except Bowie_

I had the privileged (?) to have seen Mr Williams around that time with Bob Wooler at a Manchester Beatle fair , I know how insane that sounds that They had it in Manchester back then . They both did a bit of a chat in Mr Williams seemed to smell like a beer mat and did nothing but go on about himself and Paul McCartney`s leather gear from Hamburg , I think Macca was`nt to happy about Williams had it , or something like that . I just wished I`d not been in awe at the time . Oh, to have had a smart phone back then

John Conteh was one hell of a boxer! He was the WBC World Light-Heavyweight Champion of the world from 1974 to 1977 and retired in 1980. His record of 39 bouts is an impressive 34 wins 4 losses and one draw! He's still alive at the age of 72. (*He appears as the first person leaning over on that collage of people on the cover of the 'Band on the Run' LP.)

Don`t know how long this Video will stay clear of the You Tube police but I`ve just sat threw it . I was there that night (went both nights at Manchester) and its crazy how time just makes you forget that I`d seen Macca play Let It Be 10 years after he`d wrote it. And of course singing along to Yesterday I bet I shed a wee tear after that one . Not forgetting Cook Of The House !

OH WoW!! R I P Denny. (1944-2023) paulmccartney 1h I am very saddened to hear that my ex-bandmate, Denny Laine, has died. I have many fond memories of my time with Denny: from the early days when The Beatles toured with the Moody Blues. Our two bands had a lot of respect for each other and a lot of fun together. Denny joined Wings at the outset. He was an outstanding vocalist and guitar player. His most famous performance is probably ‘Go Now’ an old Bessie Banks song which he would sing brilliantly. He and I wrote some songs together the most successful being ‘Mull of Kintyre’ which was a big hit in the Seventies. We had drifted apart but in recent years managed to reestablish our friendship and share memories of our times together. Denny was a great talent with a fine sense of humour and was always ready to help other people. He will be missed by all his fans and remembered with great fondness by his friends. I send my condolences and best wishes to his wife, Elizabeth and family. Peace and love Denny. It was a pleasure to know you. We are all going to miss you. Love, Paul

I found this interesting... What happened to the other band members of Wings after leaving the group or when the band finally broke up? Denny Seiwell: A founding member of Wings, Seiwell played drums on Wild Life, Red Rose Symphony, and the iconic song, Live and Let Die. He left the band in 1973. After Wings, he dedicated himself to being a studio musician or ‘session man’ in Los Angeles, CA. He currently performs with his group, The Denny Siewell Jazz Trio, touring jazz clubs around the country. Geoff Britton: joining Wings as their drummer for a brief stint from 1974 to 1975, Britton played on the Venus and Mars album. After Wings, he played in Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, then later in the group Rough Diamond. He then went on to play in the Keys. Then he basically just dropped off the face of the earth. It took a man named Dan Ealy four years to track him down in Spain and convince him to come to a Junior’s Farm 45th Anniversary performance in rural Tennessee. Henry McCullough: Having joined the band in 1972 as a guitarist, he eventually left two years later. He released a solo album in 1975 and then worked actively as a session musician until he had a severe heart attack in 2012. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 72. Joe English: Joining Wings in 1975, English played drums on Venus and Mars, Wings at the Speed of Sound, and Wings Over America. He left the band in 1977 while recording the album London Town. He later became a prominent figure in the Christian music movement and toured the world with the Joe English Band and later the Compassion All-Star Band. As of 2020, he is an active member of his church band in North Carolina. Jimmy McCulloch: A member of Wings from 1974 to 1977, he played guitar and bass. After leaving the band, he played on the side project White Line with his brother and joined the group Small Faces. He later played with the group Wild Horses and then The Dukes. He passed away in 1979 from an apparent drug overdose. Steve Holley: Taking over the drum kit in 1978, he played with the band until it broke up. He later played on Julian Lennon’s album Valotte and then joined the band Reckless Sleepers. He has worked extensively as a studio musician, and as of 2020, was a member of the band Mott the Hoople. Laurence Juber: Having joined Wings in 1978, Juber played guitar with the group until 1981. When the band broke up, he returned to his previous career as an in-demand studio musician. He released multiple solo albums and is regarded as one of the best fingerstyle guitarists in the industry.
