Hi I wonder if anyone can shed any light of this title for me - "The Beatles - Get Back - Original Version (Unreleased UK Stereo LP - Parlophone)" on CD. I found an amazing site (http://www.beatlesource.com/bs/mains/audio/GetBack/gb2intro.html) that looks at the evolution of the The Glyn Johns Get Back Compilations. I've managed to track down most of these on CD and in some cases the original CD but one elludes me because I'm finding it difficult to correctly identify it. According to Beatlesource the first CD release of Glyn Johns Get Back appeared in 1988 and was sourced from an earlier vinyl pressing by Tonto Records and made to look like a genuine Parlophone release with Parlophone artwork on the CD itself. The CD was limited to 500 copies so I don't imagine its possible to get a copy of that! However, Bootlegzone lists a Dr.Ebbett title that would appear to be the same - this is "The Beatles - Get Back - Original Version (Unreleased UK Stereo LP - Parlophone)" and you can get more details at www.bootlegzone.com/index.php?&login=GeorgeCB&pass=512e4dc17b55a7e2f8d6e25bfe36fe63. Does anyone know if these are the same. The Ebbett copy has identical artwork to the 1988 CD but lists 15 tracks as opposed to 11. If the Ebbett version is the same, does anyone know if it is still around. Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks George

Hi. Welcome to the forum. The web site you linked to is pretty accurate about everything you could know about those albums. There were 4 comps but only two of them were presented for consideration. Mine is the first one considered, It has Teddy Boy but not I, Me, Mine. The second one was obviously a bit later because it has I, Me, Mine and dropped Teddy Boy. Dr Ebbetts is obviously the second one. There were NO copies or any test pressings of the LP. Maybe just some mock ups. Every bootleg out there is based (perhaps taken directly from) on Johns' two versions. Some might have 15 tracks listed as opposed to 11 or whatever just because the nonsense like Maggie Mae, Rocker/Last Dance were not given their own Track. They were just links. If you spring for Ebbetts number two comp. You're likely getting a good version of whatever the original source was. helpful?

Hi Amadeus
That has been really helpful. I was so taken by the Beatlesource Get Back pages I decided to try to get hold of as many of the originals he mentions as possible, but, as I said, the variants of the last one was confusing. There appears to be a Japanese 'Remastered' version of the Ebbett's title available now but I'm looking for the original Ebbett version.
Thanks again for your reply.

Here is a site that sells them, but if you live outside of the USA, their shipping charges are out of this world. www.jagamart.com/beatles-collectibles.htmlLike Amadeus mentioned, they are all just Bootlegs, so don't bother spending too much on it! I'm sure you'll find some on Ebay every once in awhile!

Hi Bongo
Thanks for that. Oddly enough I found Jagamart just after I started this thread. They have 2 versions - the 2001 first version and a Japanese 'remastered' version. They are asking $24 plus $19 postage.

Yes, I was going to buy the 3 Canadian CD's until I saw what they charged to ship here to Canada.
What a rip-off, I told them they were nuts, of course they never replied.
You will find it on Ebay, if your patient, for much cheaper.

Hi Bongo
$19.00 postage to the UK is ridiculous. I have bought CDs from the US through Discogs and eBay US and never paid that much postage. However, they are only charging $24 for the actual CD so I am tempted. What concerns me is the actual version. I emailed them and they insist it is exactly the same as the one detailed on Bootlegzone but the CD artwork on the Jagamart site is dreadful making it difficult to judge - whats more, all the CDs are displayed in a naff frame. I need to mull this over for a bit longer I think.

Or you could download a lossless file and make your own cover.

Hi Amadeus
I'm very good at that - I much prefer buying the CDs (before buying LPs). But thanks for the suggestion.

I need to mull this over for a bit longer I think. Imagine my surprise when they quoted me $19 shipping (for the 1st disc & $3 each for the other 2 discs) to Canada, and we are next door to USA. That's what pee'd me off, it should have been no more than $5- $7 total shipping for all 3 CD's together. Not $25 shipping. Absurd! I gotta agree with what Amadeus said, and do it yourself. That's all that company is doing, it's not an official release. You can't beat the images from Bootlegzone for making your own covers, and printing on the disc too, if your so inclined. Further more, their copies are just Jewel Cases, not mini cardboard LP covers. www.jagamart.com/drebarsecodi.htmlI'm actually sorry for mentioning Jagamart, as I am very disappointed with them.

I thought I would ask Jagamart for a reduced slower p&p but they responded with an emphatic NO! They said this is what the US Postal Service charges.
I have tried to download lossless files in the past but I cannot get any of them to play on my standard CD Player - I just get a message saying 'No Disc'. Last week I spend a whole afternoon trying to burn music to CD but I eventually gave up. For the record I've tried it from iTunes and Nero - so that's really why I prefer to buy the CDs.

Hi Amadeus
Just reviewing my posts and realised one of my replies to you didn't make any sense - when you suggested downloading a lossless file my reply should have said 'I'm NOT very good at that ..... '

I've been listening to a lot of the Get Back sessions on youtube. I came across a cool version of Twist and Shout (that was sorta ruined by little Heather McCartney). Also came across a version of Love Me Do (they sound very tired). I remember reading a track list somewhere that in these sessions they sang She Loves You. I'd love to hear the 69 version of this moptop hit. Anyone know where I could find this? Thanks! I'm new to the forum but feel at home already

Welcome aboard Rod. I must confess I never really got in the Let It Be sessions that much. You obviously know more about it... But then again, I can always check and see what I can find. The complete sessions ARE available on bootlegs and there are actually people who have listened to it all!
