1. The Beatles
Here are my Beatle stories you may like or relate to...
My first ever memory is of listening to The Beatles then John Lennons 'Double Fantasy' as a 3 and a bit yr old...
I remember 9th Dec 1980 (as it is here in Oz)...walking out to the letterbox w my Dad and me looking up to what seemed a giant,
and he said to me paraphrasing..."John Lennon was shot today"...and I remember being very upset...maybe my father should have been
a little less direect to a 3 year old...ha
Around my 4th or 5th BDay, my great Auntie made me a Beatles suit just like the Piere Cardins (is that how u spell it?) they used to wear in the early days...AHDN etc
My Grandmothers neighbour used to regale me with the story of her turning up to that rainy morning, just over 50 yrs ago...here in Sydney @ the airport the welcome The Beatles...which had me starry eyed...
Around this time in the very early 80's...my Nan produced a photocopied on board menu on one of their flights in Oz...signed by all The Beatles...my great uncle was a pilot on one of these flights...a TAA I believe...I still have this Photostat copy as it were back in the day...somewhere in my storage...which i hope to find and frame which i should have years ago...
I tormented my relatives...Mum/Grandparents all through my 'kid' years...most kids listen to cartoons/the muppets as it where back then...I listened to The Beates and Paul & Johns solo stuff until around 10/11...via family i alos listened a little to Marley/Elvis/Roy Orbison...then...when i branched out via schoolmates into U2/Living Colour/Metallica and alot of heavy metal...all metal really and then the grunge as it happened and many other guitar oriented stuff mainly until i was around 18-19 when i found alot of blues and jazz...
Anyway over the years i have gravitated away and back to The Beatles as u do in life and you go through cycles...
But The Beatles remain my #1 and are the best band/artist i've ever heard...
I hope to have many enjoyable discussions w you all...
Peace
