Why do I waste my time and watch these? Although I was really curious to see what Sir Paul and Ringo were going to do. Outside of that, I never heard of any of the groups that were up for Top Group of the Year and when those two space cadets went up to get their award with the black kid with a hat my granddad wore I thought to myself I am so glad I grew up in the 60's! I always wondered what happened to Paul Williams and there he was, still small! As for best female I didn't have a clue who she was and still don't. I would have rather seen Katy Perry spit out her drink and go up, at least she's nice to look at.

I had read that other acts who where performing on the night where going to do Beatle songs. Did this happen Rocky? I wonder why Paul and Ringo didn't perform a Beatle song or two?? Have you looked at who has received Grammy Life Time Achievement Awards since 1962? Every man and his bleedin' dog! Why has it taken so long for The Beatles to receive theirs given they are arguably the most influential band in the history of music? Check the list out.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Lifetime_Achievement_Award

I wonder if they could not play their songs due to ownership issues, who has the rights these days.
I gather the girl was Lorde and is 16 and from New Zealand. Talk about too much too soon as she has only done one LP.
Daft Punk (the Robot blokes) at least have been going for 20 years.
Rocky there are some decent new acts about: John Grant, Broken Bells, Temples (sort of psychedelic pop) and Zervas and Pepper (a Welsh act making music reminiscent of Laurel Canyon) None of whom get close to the awards podium.
I stopped caring about awards shows years ago and utterly ridiculous they left it so long to honour the Beatles.

The Grammys are the most political award group I know of! I always like when they decided to give out an award for Best Heavy Metal Group and you know who won it? Jethro Tull. lol

They're taping it tonight but it won't air until Sunday Feb. 9th at 8pm on CBS. At the exact moment 50 years later that the Beatles came on The Ed Sullivan Show. The Eurythmics are reuniting for it.

Here's something else strange, Sir Paul has won 23 Grammy's, but never one for Best Male Pop Vocal or Best Male Rock Vocal. Dylan has won 2 in that category, now I ask you, who has the better voice? lol

I've never watched a granny awards show in my life. One of the benefits of having a mum and dad who didn't care about pop culture. Anyhoo, I was totally filled with mirth the year Tull took home that award. Weren't Metallica somewhat irritated? And I owned '..and Justice For All' and never even heard 'Crest Of A Knave'. was it any good?
What a complete and utter cock-up. It doesn't get any better than that.

When all said and done it was hardly Jethro Tulls fault they won!
What I also find funny about that clip is is Robbie Roberston giving out a heavy metal award! He is hardly someone you think about when thinking of Heavy Metal!

When all said and done it was hardly Jethro Tulls fault they won! True, when they found out they were nominated they didn't even bother going. Alice Cooper accepted the award for them.

Anybody else remember when the Pointer Sisters won for best Country Record? It was called "Fairytale," actually written by two of the Pointers.

Have I ever mentioned I`ve Met Tull . Which one? Homer or Jethro? Hello Amadeus ! Who`s Homer Tull ? Jethro of course . Twice in fact . I will show off my Signed programs later . First time after about an hour wait in the freezing cold at the back of the Apollo (Manchester) we was allowed inside and Ian sat in the front row seat and we all politly qued for autographs The woman in front of me asked for a kiss , in which Mr Anderson obliged . Next up was I "I`m ok , I don`t want a kiss " I said to Mr A. He laughed .

Ha! It was always a joke that Ian Anderson was Jethro in the C&W duo Homer & Jethro. So pleasantly known as the Tull Bros. But Mr. Kite I guess you probably had to be there. lol

Ha! Mr Rock(y) who happens to be a North American, got the Homer and Jethro reference which the UK ranians don't know about. Of course, this stuff was more daring when I was twelve back in the days when there was still someone left to offend.
