One of my early memories. My mother, my older brother, and I were standing in front of our ancient black & white tv. I saw The Beatles singing and playing guitar. My mother said "Boys with long hair" and then she smiled and looked at my brother, who was age 14. He looked at The Beatles, impressed. What a great memory! I am 55 years old and have a memory of when they were introduced to America! Does anyone else out there remember this and what your reaction was?

Hi venuszeal. A very warm welcome to the Forum. You'll like it here. Although older than you, I can still remember watching The Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. It was really special seeing them taking America by storm. "Boys with long hair" indeed! It's true though, any guy who had hair over their collars and ears back then "needed a haircut" as my Mum used to say. Those were exciting times. Enjoy your stay here and just for you (and all our viewers), you can relive the memory. No screaming mind 'cos we might not be able to hear!

Thank you, Arthurlee. I am a true Beatlemamniac.I went through all the stages of Beatlemania so I qualify. And my sister, age 66, was the exact age that was perfect for discovering The Beatles in 1963. She was sweet 16! When she left for college I found her Beatles albums (when I was 12 or so) and I had that original poster with them in grey suits. I very quickly fell in love with John Lennon's face but with George's voice. Later John was completely my favorite Beatle but when George died it hit me harder than I thought it would. I realized too late how vital he was to The Beatles sound, backup and very original guitar. Listen closely and you'll hear that John and George sang together, and Paul and George together, more than John and Paul, though they get the credit.

Hello Everyone, I'm new here to this forum and want to share my memories of the Fab Four. I was 7 when they first hit the stage on Ed Sullivan. Feb 9th 1964. I sat with my parents that night and watched history being made. Funny how Mom and Dad thought The Beatles hair was so long but the both did like the music. I was fascinated, and even at seven I recognized they were truly different and better sounding than anything I had heard before. My dad played guitar and was impressed with their musicianship. I had started playing at 6 but I gave it up after just a few lessons. After that night, I decided I wanted to play the guitar again and I've been at it now for 50 years, thanks to John, Paul, George, and Ringo. And of course my Dad.
