I don't know mrmustard in a previous post you said Marsden was a better singer than Lennon & now Linda a distinctive vocalist. What next! Let's be honest about this Linda added nothing to Wings except Atrocious vocals & blag keyboard parts. Wings should've had a professional musician in her place. I invite forum members to post if they disagree with me. Is there anyone out there who thinks she was a great singer like mrmustard .

OOOoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Fightin' words?
Actually, Linda has her own voice. You don't really mistake Linda for anyone else. Maybe she's average but she's certainly not as bad as that circulating tape shows. Why is there only one tape. Wouldn't the WINGS bootlegs present multiple opportunities to prove just how untalented Linda supposedly was?
And maybe Paul thought the music only needed 'blag' keyboard parts. I don't hear that any of the songs suck more because Linda is on them. If the song sucks, it's because it's bad.
Could Linda be responsible for the uneven quality of WINGS/Macca output? Maybe. Paul made WINGS a sort of family affair rather than just a boys club. He was totally satisfied in blissfull domesticity which has to affect the output to a certain extent. Linda made him happy. If WINGS was a boys club like The Beatles were, maybe he would've 'rocked out' more often.
WINGS' output is just what it is and I tend to pick and choose here and there but most of it is very good quality indeed. I can do without 'Girlfriend' but I like London Town better than most people. I thought Back To The Egg was way better than most people remember.
If Linda affected WINGS it's because of the way Paul let her affect him and his writing, like a dad. Not because of her assumed lack of talent.
Paul has the talent but even so, even in The Beatles he was a bit of a keenie. That comes through loud and clear in WINGS' output, which sometimes lets him drop a stinker once in a while. That's not Linda's fault.
I don't think.

Points well made Amadeus . It's all about opinions. Some say she has distinctive vocals some say she has her own voice. I'm just calling it how it is with an honest assessment .I can go to bed of a night safe in the knowledge that Linda couldn't sing.No ifs or buts , just fact. You have to remember I'm a big fan of Linda. I have all her cook books in the days I was veggie. Linda was also a very talented photographer. She did have many talents.I just think these talents were best suited outside the band . Wings in my mind frustrate me because they could've been so much better. Of course this is not all down to Linda. They needed more focus with their Line up. What with session players coming & going. Paul didn't want any of the band competing with him. Which is probably quite right. Hence the band being renamed for the Red Rose Speedway album as Paul McCartney & Wings ,which says everything about the bands mechanics. Band on the Run is a mini classic. The title song & Jet are as good as it's gets & up there with his best Beatle work. Hope they re release Wings over America on Vinyl this year. It encapsulates everything good about the band & shows what a great live act they were.

I never really had a problem with Linda and I never thought of "they could have a better keyboard player/singer . At the time of relaese of London Town and Back To The Egg albums I liked them . I was young and still in my infancy of Rock and of course Prog Rock and I did`nt think of them as un cool . I always says it`s better to have an album from one of your fav artists than not be it good or bad ,as I just got into Lennon in 75 and then he retired .
I do not listen to those album much these days true , but they are a part of the time when I was a Wings fan and I got to see them in concert .
I am your singer is not a bad tune is it . I put it against any Yoko track .

I much prefer Yoko,s Walking on thin Ice. A sing off between Yoko & Linda that would've been something to see

Linda did put out an album of her own Wide Prairie. And a single from the lp which got banned on a lot of radio stations. So now that I have your attention here it is: (btw to me she sounds a little like Joan Jett)

Just watched Rockshow on Blu-ray. I have to say it was brilliant it blew me away. First off ,fantastic band English,McCulloch in particular. Secondly how great it looks on blu-ray. Picture & sound awesome. Thirdly the concert itself . Loved the small acoustic set they did whilst all sitting down at the front of stage. 10/10 for a concert film. Didn't even mind Linda,s participation

Watched Rockshow last night on Blu Ray. Great sound in 5.1. The bass does drop out occasionally which has been noted on reviews and the picture is quite grainy at times but other times its crystal clear. It is a 37 year old film after all so with that in mind it's a great job restoring it.
It's interesting to note on the song credits that all The Beatles songs are credited to Paul McCartney and John Lennon. I thought he'd got over that!

Hmm I too got Rockshow blu ray and experience the bass drop outs....if you read the reviews on Amazon it seems that bsome people have the same problem and some don't....this suggests to me that it is a bad batch problem and I have e mailed Eagle Rock to complain about it...this shouldn't happen....I've waited years to see and hear this concert recording in all it's glory.....I was lucky enough to see this show at wembly arena in 1976 on the final night of the tour....great memories...
