Hello,
My name is Jennie Strickland and my Uncle Brian grew up in Liverpool in the 60's (there is a picture of him attached). He was a huge beatles and merseybeats fan. Sadly he died recently and I find myself in possession of a huge record, cd and dvd collection dating back from original merseybeats through to current era. He was an amazing man and I am only now finding out how mad he was about music. I wanted to join this forum to try and get some help sifting through the collection and finding out what is important and what is not. For example - I just found a set of Ed Sullivan DVD's - just DVD's I thought but then I looked them up on amazon and they are worth about £100. That is the official stuff - the other things I have is a trailor load (literally) or copied items including DVD's and Videos. Clearly I can't sell these but I want to ensure that I don't throw away anything that is important or that there aren't any copies of and to let someone who will love them have them.
So - I wondered whether you all might be able to Help! me - if you will pardon the pun. I grew up with the beatles (as my dad is a huge fan to) but we don't have the breadth of knowledge to really undestand what is in the collection.
I have started to see a few bits an pieces at stores.ebay.co.uk/unclebriansrecordstore that I can research on the internet.
So here is QUESTION ONE!
I have a DVD here - which is 'An intimate experience in sound' The Beatles - "Rock Band" mixes. Inside is a DVD which contains the 4cds that were on this album. It is marked Promotional Copy Only. Is this real or is this likely to be a bootleg? I would really appreciate any help you can give me!
