After watching a rerun of "Later with Jools Holland" on which Paul & his mates performed an incendiary version of "Jet" I've become a bit obsessed with its meaning or meanings. Yes, Paul is on record as first saying it was about a puppy and then more recently that it was about a pony. And maybe there was a puppy or pony called Jet (though you would think he could keep the story straight), but I doubt either animal was "marrying soon"! My take is that at least in part about John. Think about what has been written about Mimi's reactions to John telling her about his plans to marry Cynthia and then Yoko - to put it mildly - NOT BLOODY GOOD!
So in my "reading" just put "John" where "Jet" is in the lyrics.
And as I like to think that deep down Paul And John loved each other could Paul be saying: "Oh Mother! I want John to always love me." ?

Silly actually, to put Jet being about his puppy. He always denied Martha my dear was about his sheep dog. And IMHO it was.
