Isn't It A Pity and Let It Down. The top songs for me. I would probably call them two songs myself however I can't decide if I prefer the demo version of Let It Down or the studio version! .............I just have, it's the demo version.

I find George's evolution from writer of awkward album fillers to composer of some of the most beautiful songs ever written quite staggering. For any musician, going from the standard of 'Don't bother me' and 'I'm happy just to dance with you' to that of 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps' and 'Something' in the space of a few short years is nothing short of astounding, it's just a tragedy that the break up of the band came as George was truly flourishing as a songwriter and beginning to equal, if not surpass the talents of his band mates and peers. I love his output from Revolver onwards but if I had to pick a couple of my favourites, and I guess I do on this thread, they'd have to be the aforementioned 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' (White album AND Love album versions) plus from his solo years, 'Wah Wah'.
Ps - I'm also a big fan of 'Not Guilty' and 'Sour Milk Sea'

My Sweet Lord comes to mind, as well as When We Was Fab!, which Ironically as some of you know Fab was going to be a Ringo record until John's death, then he changed the lyrics.

"Something" without a doubt, reminds me still to this day of my first love.

First thing that comes to mind is "Here Comes the Sun." Especially following the dreariness of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)."
The white album is where George came into his own.

Something is a truly beautiful song. Does the fact that the Patty and George failed in the end take away from the song or add an extra layer of poignancy.

With all the synergy the Beatles had together and with George Martin, you wonder what his solo stuff would have sounded like in the Beatles. Plus, somebody could have said, "now you know that's really 'He's So Fine' by the Chiffons."
Story goes that when Billy Joel first presented "Movin' Out" to his band, one of them said "You know that's 'Laughter in the Rain' by Neil Sedaka." Billy had to go back and totally re-write the music to the lyric.

I Want You (She's So Heavy) is arguably one of the best songs on the album in my view. Totally unique and an amazing soundscape of music. I certainly wouldn't call it dreary. Sinister yes but not dreary.

John did it with 'Come Together' borrowing Chuck's line 'here come old flat top he was grooving up slowly' from Berry's "You Can't Catch Me' tune. The funny thing is Chuck didn't give a crap, he didn't own the copyright to it Morris Levy did and sued John.lol The funniest one IMO was John Fogerty being sued for writing a song that sounded like one of his other songs!! lol

I hear you, Mr. Mustard. I didn't say I didn't like I Want You (She's So Heavy) or that it's not a good song, but you have to admit Here Comes the Sun certainly brightens up the mood.
Yes, Bongo, I Want You (She's so Heavy) is a Lennon song. It appears on the Abbey Road album. It is followed by Here Comes the Sun, a George song.
Back in the day, the Lennon song closed side one of the vinyl, then you had to get up out of your chair, lift the lid of the turntable, pick up the record and turn it over, and then start side two. The song began before you sat down.

Nearly a year later, "Here Comes the Sun" sounds even better. This past winter was long and cold, if not lonely.

Not done this one !
I love I Want You (She`s So Hairy ) Brilliant Blues, Rock, Lennon basic but but brilliant
Anyhow George . Again this is a tough one when he has done so so many wonderful songs . I have to say that when I heard While My Guitar and All Things Must Pass off the Anthology for the first time I had a lump in my throat.
Just when you thought you`d heard Georges finest moments . So then . Beatle Song . While My Guitar Gently Weeps Solo . All Things Must Pass .
Also in the running Behind That Locked Door Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp The Day The World Gets Round Give Me Love ( Give Me Peace On Earth ) Try Some Buy Some Here Comes The Moon All 33 and a third except True Love ( my first bought on release album ) I think that covers it
Old Brown Shoe ... I knew I should`nt have come on here ........!
