Went to see Let It Be the musical in the London West End yesterday. It's well worth seeing if anyone is planning a trip to London. It's a live band on stage portraying The Beatles performing songs from the early years to the end of their career. Interspersed with original newsreel footage from the time. The band are all excellent musically with probably the best George I have ever seen in terms of guitar playing ability. The lead vocals are good but perhaps held back a bit as they had to save their vocals for the evening performance (we where at the matinee).
Anyway, don't let that put you off. It's well worth seeing.

Doesn't the fact that "Paul" is right handed put anybody off ? Regards to all.... bingomusic.

Doesn't the fact that "Paul" is right handed put anybody off ? Regards to all.... bingomusic. Not at all. For me it's all about the sound of the band and their musical ability. I want a band, especially a Beatles tribute band, to be playing to the best of their ability. So if that means a right handed bass player then that's fine with me. The guy I saw was an excellent bass player.

It's the band Rain isn't it? I'm pretty sure they played Beatle Week a year or two ago.

There are three 'Paul McCartney's' in the cast. The Sun King has custody of the programme. I'm sure he will enlighten us!

Yes there are 3 McCartneys , 2 Lennons ,2 Harrisons & 1 Starr. Apparently RAIN productions are one of producers for the show.RAIN are very proud to be part of the creative team who brought 'Let it Be' show to the West end. As far as I know there are no members of RAIN performing. Reuven Gershon who plays Lennon also played with the Bootleg Beatles. Great show I agree with mrmustard regarding Stephen Hill being the best George. He was Fabulous .His guitar sound was as good as I've heard. Recommend the show to all Beatles fans.

I still feel IMHO that if a band are going to be a Beatles Tribute Band then they should at least go to the trouble of getting a left-handed bass player !!!! ? ... regards to all.... bingomusic.

You do have a valid point.I've seen lots of tribute bands & I'm sure everyone else has too. But the most important thing has got to be the music, that's got to come first surely. In this case Emanuele Angeletti aka Paul McCartney is an excellent bass player and does a terrific job. That,ll do for me.

With any Beatles tribute band you will never get perfection. It's never going to happen. There will always be compromise; don't sound or look like them, not very good musicians, use different equipment, crap wigs etc so for me a right handed bass player is the least of my concerns when most Beatle tribute bands fall down on the level of musicianship remotely anywhere near The Beatles.

These reviews vary from awesome to disappointed and no middle ground. I think a lot of people who didn't like it had an expectation that there would be acting interspersed with music. The story is told through the music.
