Because the majority of the team play without pride and passion - money is their motivation.

That can be said for most players today The End who might just think playing for England puts a few extra quid on a boot deal , but that perfomance last night was shambolic , i don`t care for my national team never have never will , but that must have been the poorest performce i `ve ever seen .

It was truly awful. Whilst I reserve a small amount of sympathy for Second Choice Steve, he clearly has no tactical nous at all. Instead of playing it safe in a game we only had to draw, he goes for 4-1-4-1. The midfield was a mess, and the defence was chaotic. Here McClaren burnt his bridges. Had he not pissed off Carragher so much, he could have had him in central defence alongside Richards - who is a liability at right back. I believe Hargreaves should have been there instead of Barry, and a place on the bench, at least, should have gone to Bentley. I don't think it has anything to do with money. These guys live for big tournaments, and most get very few chances to go. A lack of motivation is down to the coach, and the shambolic performance is down to his tactics. The sight of McClaren standing on the edge of the pitch with an umbrella was pathetic. 2-3 down and he's worried about getting wet! I don't think I've ever seen that before. And he couldn't even be arsed to console his players on the pitch afterwards. Shameful.

So, now we've dropped down to 12th in the world rankings, and are about to be relegated to the 2nd pool of seeds for the World Cup draw. What a legacy McClaren has left us. Oh for the glory days of Sven! Even Greece are now higher than us.
The worry now is that there is a new system of qualifying, with only one team going through from each group, and then a play off for the best 8 second placed teams.

[ which stands for what they do for English football] Remember the days when football was a working class game , when you were a kid you could go and watch a match and relive it on a field and dream of playing for your team That happens now but on Consoles , and its the kids from across Europe dream of playing in the English league , they have more chance , we may have the best league in the world but we far far away from having the best national players .

Just in case nobody's seen it, The Champions League draw: Celtic v Barcelona Lyon v Manchester UnitedSchalke v Porto Liverpool v Inter Milan Roma v Real Madrid Arsenal v AC Milan Olympiakos v ChelseaFenerbahce v Sevilla I'd say Chels got off pretty lightly! ManUre should be OK too. Tough draw for The Arse, and The Poo.

At least AC is slightly better than Inter. I don't fancy Liverpools chances at all. Am I right, no seeds in the quarters?

GOD! Sorry, I only just spotted this!!! Every club has a god - Bergkamp was one of the greats. That Leicester game had some of the greatest goals I have ever seen!!! I hope that Van Persie will someday fill Bergkamp's boots!

I hope that Van Persie will someday fill Bergkamp's boots! The goal against Newcastle in particular has been broadcasted endlessly on Dutch telly. Van Persie has the ability I think, but where Dennis preferred to let his feet do the talking, Robin's mouth is a bit too big for someone with his cv.

I know what you mean about Van Persie - also, he seems a bit injury-prone, it would be nice if he could see out a whole season and get a good run in the side.
