Why do English and Americans have different words for the same thing? A wrench is a spanner in England, is that right?

Why do English and Americans have different words for the same thing? A wrench is a spanner in England, is that right? Yup. The term 'spanner' can also refer to Ringo Starr after his poor show of Liverpool PR at the weekend.

LOL! I notice Ringo's comments are starting to make news headlines now!! What did it say in the Echo, Rob? They want his blood mate! Nah, not that bad really, although I understand he was slated on BBC Radio Merseyside yesterday. Headline: "Liverpool I left you, but I never let you down... who says Ringo" Saw Jay Murray in the Cavern Pub last night, had some fun with "No more Ringo" chants, he would break into say Yellow Submarine, only for the audience to yell "NOOOO!" What a fool he has been, I feel like nipping down to Cavern Walks with a dunce's hat for his statue there! I think Ringo was very shrewd tying his album into the Liverpool 08 celebrations, but it has backfired BIG time after his comments. I'm surprised his press office has released a statement yet - this must be crippling sales of his album in Merseyside.

I'm surprised his press office has released a statement yet - this must be crippling sales of his album in Merseyside. Don't think interest was that high anyway I'm sorry to say. I've since jumped and stamped on the Liverpool 8 CD single I bought - just like in the states after John's "Bigger than Jesus" comment!

Strange that a song about Ringo's experiences of growing up in Liverpool was written by Dave Stewart!
