Not really the sixties, but he did inspire them (I think...). So, any fans here?

Yeah, good call! I love Buddy Holly - he was a HUGE influence on them, even down to their name!
Macca even bought Buddy Holly's music publishing rights and narrated a documentary about him in the Eighties.

They were all fans. George too, he said so in the pressconference prior to the Candlestick Park concert. Plus they recorded Words Of Love and played several Holly songs live on stage.

I must admit I prefer the Beatles' Words of Love version... They did Peggie Sue as well...? Its so sad how short his life was...

They did Crying Waiting Hoping for sure. It's on the Decca Tapes as well. I must check about Peggie Sue and other Buddy Holly songs. Paul McCartney played Brown Eyed Handsome Man in the Cavern some years ago.

There is also a recording of Reminiscing performed at the Star Club (another George vocal).
They also recorded "Don't Ever Change" by The Crickets (without Buddy Holly).

I absolutely cannot stand True Love Ways! I think it's the only track of Buddy's that I don't like. I dislike it for the same reasons I dislike The Long And Winding Road by The Beatles - to my ears it's a boring dirge. The sort of music you hear on old-fart-radio on a Sunday afternoon! Apologies to any old farts reading this! LOL

yea Rave On and Oh Boy are great! I dont think I heard True Love Ways.
I prefer Let it Be to The Long and Winding Road... instrumentally-wise.

My favorite is Not Fade Away, followed by Everyday (even though I like the faster 'marching' version by The Rogues a lot better).
