I think Vashti Bunyan deserves a slot, a song from 46 years ago 'Diamond Day'

Here is another one from about the same time as Vashti, 'Riverman' by Nick Drake. Such a loss to the music world when Nick died at the age of 26 back in 1974.

Mr Kite, That 'Color In Your Cheeks' song - is it John Darnielle singing? It's just that he reminds me (and the song in some respects) of Colin Meloy, the lead singer with The Decemberists. Not too similar but difficult to pinpoint. Maybe the accent, maybe they come from the same geographical area of the U.S.A.? This is The Decemberists 'The Mariner's Revenge Song' where Meloy is obviously putting on a mock kind of pirate accent in keeping with the story of the song. Stay with it , the storyline is very becoming!

It is indeed John Darnielle
