My school work consisted of, among other albums, learning to Play 2112 and Caress Of Steel note for note. Nothing to do with actual school work, mind you... Kinda Homework I would have died for . I was thinking the other day about Rock Covers . Is there a cover of a song that is better then the original ? The most famous one that came to mind was Jimi Hendrix`s version of Dylan`s All Along The Watchtower . Even Dylan held his hands up with that one and decided to play it electric himself . Here is a Cover that got me thiking Doug Henthorn and Joe Bonamassa A Zepp tune I never really rated up their with the best of Zepp . But then I heard this tune a couple of yeras ago and now I even listen to the Zepp one . Anyone got any favs ?

Definitely Money and Long Tall Sally by The Beatles themselves. Free's version of The Hunter. I will think of more in due course.

Great covers.
Dead Souls - Joy Division/Nine Inch Nails Twist and Shout - The Isely Brothers/The Beatles
Oh yeah,,, That (2112 etc) wasn't actually school work. It's what I did instead of school work.
My report cards - "Satisfactory", "51%", "OK work", "If he only applied himself..."

Jim Marshall died yesterday As we all know he was the man who put Rock into Amps. Would Jimi sounded as good with any other Amp ? I met him at a guitar fair a long time ago and I knew I was in the presence of a legend . The latest Artic Monkeys tune . And what a tune . And an Oldy but what a goldy .

Most of the Beatles songs from the early days were covers and they did them surprisigly well. Changing a little bit of the tempo and phrasing just enough so they wouldn't be up there singing exact copies of the songs. Paul with his Holly and Little Richard stuff, George with his Carl Perkins and John with his Elvis and Isley's covers. Well shake it up baby....my favorite cover "Twist & Shout."

Very sad news about Jon Lord who died yesterday at the age of 71 . He was a true Rock legend . I was lucky enough to see him with Whitesnake as I never got the chance to see him with Purple. My fav moments of jon`s was the solo on Space Truckin on Live in Japan album . R.I.P. Jon Lord . 1941 - 2012.

There was some little lights in the dark decade of the 80`s And one that caught my eye was a band called Lone Justice . The singer was apparently so good that a certain Mr Bob Dylan had wrote a song for her ! So off I went to see the band and that was that . I feel in love with Maria Mckee. I guess you had to see her in those early days see had a voice that was on par with Janis Joplin . Over the years I seen her many times and I have all her albums and in the early 2000`s she had a great album called High Dive. Here is a tune from that album . Very Neil Young influenced Lone Justice.
