One of the long haired Rory pictures is on the Mersey Beat site under the while my guitar gently weeps section with a band pic from about 67 and another from the book with his mum and dad in Amsterdam from 1970 although that pic is with them standing behind a Chevrolet Impala. So it looks like he changed his hair about 1967 so why there are so few images of his later years is frustrating. I think he has long hair in the cliff diving image in the book as well but as it is taken at some distance as he is diving into the sea from an incredible height you are left not entirely sure. Some lovely pics of Ringo in the book as well.

Yeah I seen that one, I was thinking it was taken when he went over to Sweden to become a DJ and those were just fans with him. It's funny you would think there would be more pics available because in the one interview I read of Patrick Byrne he said his brother Johnny had saved a treasure drove of material!

The only way to date pics of Rory seem to be who the drummer is in the pic with him. With Ringo '62 and earlier. Then Gibson Kemp '63, Keef Hartley '64, and Ian Broad, Trevor Morais, Brian Johnson, and Jimmy Tushington also Vince Earl was added to the group until '67. I don't know who that drummer might be in your pic. BTW Ty Brian died in '67, Rory in '72,and Johnny in '99, but no one knows what happened to Lu 'Wally' Walters the bass player. Is there anything about what he did after '67 in the book?

Very little apart from he leaves to join a Jazz outfit and is replaced by Vince Earl, you get the impression he left the rock business altogether. Oddly that is all rather hurriedly glossed over as is Ty's passing.

Maybe mrmustard can conduct a 'In Search of' since he lives in the Liverpool area. After all he does sing lead with Lennon on the first Beatle record 'Summertime'!

Yes!! This should be interesting mm. Funny he was never at one of those Beatle conventions in Liverpool. I read Johnny use to sell his memorabilia there. Boy I hope you don't find out he passed away in obscurity.

Well he became a psychiatric nurse. Presuming that was in Liverpool, there is only one place people work as psychiatric nurses in Liverpool. He must be retired by now though. I will see what I can dig up....assuming he's still alive!

I'm thinking he must be about the age of Ringo. So he's got to be in his 70's. He might have dropped that Lu part since that's the name Rory gave him. I also posted on the Forum Chat just in case a newbie flying by knows.

That's funny cause I just got done looking at that mm! lol Seems Wally split the scene shortly after Ty died. I'm still surprised that he didn't keep in touch with Johnny later when Johnny wanted to reform the group in the 90's for charity unless he couldn't be found or sadly, died.

This is starting to remind me of the documentary movie 'In Search of the Sugarman'. Also in the searching for Danny Kirwan and Syd Barrett.

The last reference in the book about Lou is that he not only went to the funeral of Rory but helped carry his coffin so he is about in 1972.
