Sept 17th 1969, Media on both sides of the Atlantic were running stories that said Paul McCartney was dead. He was supposedly killed in a car accident in Scotland on November 9th, 1966 and that a double had been taking his place for public appearances. In fact, Paul and his girlfriend Jane Asher were on vacation in Kenya at the time. From www.thisdayinmusic.com

In fact, Paul and his girlfriend Jane Asher were on vacation in Kenya at the time. Ah! But where they? There where (is) a lot of people involved in this conspiracy!

I started to think that the cospiracy thoeries had some substance when I bought Mcartney 2 and then later on when the Frog song came out .

I don't think it was true. If you look at the origins of the conspiracy you will find that it started as a joke.

Which is always good for a laugh!

Well I remember it started out as a little joke that was in an article written by Tim Harper in a little college newspaper in Des Moines, Iowa. It sat lame for about 3 weeks before someone must have read it in Detroit and happened to call a DJ about a song he played backwards that said "I buried Paul '. It hit out here on the east coast as a way to get callers into these little late night radio stations. The funniest one I can remember was when the DJ said if you hold the Magical Mystery Tour lp up to a mirror a telephone number will appear where you can call to find out if Paul is really dead! It was an actual phone number to an old gentleman that lived around here and he had so many calls that he had to have his phone disconnected! ha-ha

It is an interesting subject ...... I always wondered about whether or not The Beatles were aware of "the clues" that they left on their songs i.e. "Glass Onion" ... "Here's another clue for you all, The Walrus was Paul" ..... Regards to all..... bingomusic.

I remember one of the first songs that people wondered about whether John had did something a little strange was 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' and the initials were LSD. John always said it was just a coincidence, but later on as in the song 'Glass Onion' I think he did that intentionly. BTW Paul really wasn't the walrus John was. lol

.... I heard differently - that Paul had (supposedly) had an arguement with the other Beatles and stormed out of Abbey Road Studio's and had the accdent in London (not Scotland) ? .... Regards to all.... bingomusic.

"The here's another clue for you all..." was just John taking the piss out of the Paul is dead story and hidden meaning theorists, then all of a sudden it becomes a clue in its own right - irony at its best!
