LOL I've heard you sing AND play the tambourine at the same time Al (what versality!) and I have to say that the thought of you singing along to bird noises fills my heart with a less than overwhelming feeling!

I'm absolutely obsessed with "I've Just Seen A Face" lately. And "Girl" will forever be on my top ten Beatles songs list!

I've always thought I've Just Seen a Face was sort of the blue-print for the Monkees "sound" when they arrived on the scene 2 years later!!! Listen to Last Train to Clarksville and What Am I Doing Hanging Round And I couldn't agree more about "Girl" - it gives me goosebumps... seriously!

I absolutely agree with you there...the Monkees I think were heavily influenced by some of the Beatles' stuff from the Help! era (their 1965 music. Which I am in love with!) YES! "Girl" is definitely one of those songs that gives me goosebumps too...it's beautiful and strange and just incredibly well-done. It's so very John. :]

Regarding Girl - I can't think of another song where an integral part of the lyric involves someone sucking in air!! I dunno about the rest of the world, but over here that noise is normally made by guys when they're talking about someone they really fancy! LOL I definitely fancy her too... whoever she is!! LOL!!

Slow Down - man this rocks! Indeed it does! One of my favourites. However why is it that so called 'authorities' such as Ian Macdonald do not rate it? For a classically trained musician George Martin makes a hell of a rock'n'roll pianist.

Totally agree!! Possibly one of The Beatles' longest intros up till that point too?

Totally agree!! Possibly one of The Beatles' longest intros up till that point too? Do you happen to know what Beatles song had the longest intro? I can't think off hand. Sun King must be up there.

Flying maybe? Come on. That really doesn't count surely! If so Revolution #9 should technically beat it!

You might be right about Sun King being the longest intro actually. Day Tripper is also a long one. I'll have to get my stop-watch out!
