Just checked. It is in Liverpool! In fact it's literally at the back of were I work. It is probably a ten minute walk to the Adelphi and a 15-20 minute walk to Mathew street from here. Why am I telling you this! You hate walking!!

Ha ha! Well, luckily I'll only be paying one visit to the Apollo Court per day and that'll be when I go to bed each night/morning!!!

Debating wether to go for a coloured package... I'm a local but I'm always missing out on all the fun in the Adelphi Hotel. Is it worth the £400+ price tag?

In my opinion it's worth it - I've booked the Gold package plus 2 extra nights - staying at Apollo Court.

I know you have favoured the HDNH, but for me, it's a bit expensive when you will hardly be there. As a fellow local I think we would get better value for money at another time of year? In short: Stay at Adelphi = Late nights at Adelphi. Drunk. Bed upstairs (VERY handy). Minor hassle of having to walk to Mathew Street the following morning /afternoon. Stay at HDNH = Late nights at Adelphi. Drunk. Have the hassle of walking to get to bed at 4am to HDNH. Handy for Mathew Street in the morning. Depends on what you want, but for me, I'd rather cope with the hassle in the morning, rather that after 20 pints at 4am!

A group of us are going to Beatles Festival for the first time this year, please could you send me the PDF (neil_stirlin@yahoo.co.uk)
We'll be in Liverpool from Sat-Tue and our plan was to enjoy the street festival and try out a few pubs in the evening. Didn't realise that there were so many other events which tickets could be bought for. Suppose we were to pay for only 1 or 2 events please could someone give their opinion on the best event(s) on offer.

Just got off the phone with Ray - i'm all booked and paid. Although due to a typo he very nearly had me booked as staying until some time in 2012!
Neil, one event to buy tickets for will be the saturday night gig at the Cathedral - they've never done this event before and i doubt it will happen again.

The Mathew Street Festival is an integral part of Beatle Week and for those of you who are interested, here is the link which will be regularly updated from now until the festival takes place : www.mathewstreetfestival.org/Something which caught my eye whilst browsing MSF stuff was this link : www.liverpool.com/matthew-street-festival/. Basically, to mark the 50th anniversary of the boys, there will be live performances of every track from every album, back to back at two outdoor stages. That's some ambitious undertaking and will be some accomplishment if everything goes to plan. It'll be a choice between stages (hope the weather's kind) but if ever I would want to be in two places at one time, it would be then!

Thanks for that ,buddie. I was actually wondering if anybody knew which bands will be playing The Cavern, as there's nothing out from CCT yet. I know The Prellies and The Tearaways are playing the all nighter on Sunday, which will be brilliant, as usual, but nothing else on who are appearing this year. With only 9 weeks to go, I thought that something would have been released by now.

Yeah, good point actually! I think the G-Pluck Beatles are playing though, which is great news Can any of our Cavern regulars shed any more light on who's playing?

I'm hoping for some of the older bands who used to come every year. Norwegian Beatles, Shakers, Mad Dogs, Las Bestias etc. plus some excellent bands from last year, The Dockers, The Blackbirds (Hungarian version) and some others I can't put a name to.

I'm sure The Shakers will be around as they are a resident band at The Cavern.

Rob do we know if Merseybeat's provisional invite from last summer has been confirmed yet?

I have spoken to Tony from The Shakers and he tells me they haven't been invited, which I find very strange. They are, however, playing some gigs round about the city centre during Beatleweek.
