I liked Queen in the early albums, but after Radio Ga Ga and all that, it was not my thing anymore.

I liked them up to, and including Sheer Heart Attack. And they were brilliant live at that time. But I don't have any time for them since then. All the pomp and theatricals just don't do it for me.
Did I tell you I used to work with Freddie Mercury's mum?

Nothing much to tell really. When I was a kid I used to work Saturday's in our local Mark's & Spencer store. She worked there. This would have been around 1974, so they weren't huge at the time. This didn't stop Freddie from prancing through the store like a Hollywood starlet!

Hmmm, very interesting!
Freddie Mercury was also big fan of John Lennon, wasn't he?

Quite likely. He grew up with The Beatles. He was 18 in 1964 when he came to England.

I'm yer man regarding Queen. I've been going to the International Convention for 17 years as well as many gigs and other parties.
Freddie had a number of close links with Liverpool, but you will have to come on one of my Beatle/Queen/Learn about Liverpool Magical History Tours to find out more!
Oh, go on, I'll share one or two! I am told that the name was inspired by 'Queen' Buildings on Dale Street, near the Town Hall, a short walk around the corner from The Cavern, but I'm not 100% certain of this.
The first time Freddie Mercury, Brian May and Roger Taylor ever appeared on stage together was at in the basement of The Sink Club (now The Magnet) on Hardman Street, right by the superb Philharmonic Hall and Pub (with a number of Beatle links) It was September 1969 and Freddie was there as Larry Lurex, Bri and Roger were in a bad called Smile and joined Freddie for the encores that featured The Beatles' Rain. Sadly, the recoding tape ended before the set was finished.

Queen is always in my top five all-time favourite bands, along with Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and of course The Beatles. But how many of you have heard of my other favourite, The Tragically Hip?

I love Queen. When I was about 14 my mom made me listen to a cd from them. Never stopped listening ever since. Pretty cool that there are many links with The Beatles, my all time favourites.

Is this Queen or a solo track when was it released? urmm its a queen track from the album "Hot Space" from 1982 i think it was... Freddie Mercury, 1982 "I basically write the tune [first]. I write the song around the melody most of the time. Sometimes a lyric will get me started. 'Life Is Real' was one of those, because the words came first. I just really got into it, pages after pages, all kinds of words. Then I just put it to a song. I just felt that it could be a Lennon-type thing."

Queen were one of the first bands i got into. i dont listen to them as much as i did when i was younger. prefer their 70's stuff to anything 1980 onwards. too difficult to decide my favourite song of their in the 70's. Under Pressure was their best effort from 1980 onward in my opinion. saw them at the NEC a few years ago with Paul Rodgers, fantastic night freddie actualy did a tribute 2 john lennon i can remember reading that, at their first gig after John's untimely death (rest in peace John), they did a cover of Imagine. is this true do you know? i know they did a cover of it at Hyde Park with Paul Rodgers, mind you i think that was a tribute to those lost at 7/7
