Hi! Though a bit late, I just wanted to say I enjoy your being on the forums.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself ... you are so knowledgeable, I wonder if you have an official Beatles connection?
Thanks!

Hi Alexis,
that's nice of you. Sorry to disappoint you but I have no official Beatles connection. I was born and bred in Liverpool and started listening to and reading about The Beatles when I was about 10 years old (nearly 29 years ago! Wow is it really that long!). I have played the guitar since I was 10 and been in numerous bands (never a Beatles tribute though)and made several albums as well as having my own home studio so I have a pretty good appreciation about how a song is constructed, played by a band and recorded in a studio.
Over the years I have built up an extensive library of Beatles books and just formed strong opinions about The Beatles. Being from Liverpool I have made the most of going to the Beatles conventions here since 1981 and drank in most of the pubs that the Beatles drank in or played in that are still standing.
I have never been a member of a Beatles forum before this one and certainly never been a recognised 'expert' on them (thanks Al!). It's a great forum with a lot of really knowledgable people that are part of it. It's so good to have a forum were you can discuss/debate the Beatles with other like-minded people or just be able to offer an answer to someone's question. I know there are other forums but I just haven't tapped into them yet as I am quite happy with this one. One is probably enough anyway.

I made a pilgrimage there in the 80s, drank at Ye Cracke, and visited all the Beatles places I could. This was before it got as commercialized as I get the impression it is now, so I had to sort it all out on my own. Definitely one of the highlights of my life ("Hi, I'm Alexis, and I'm a Beatles fanatic. Is there a problem with that?")! I play in the occasional garage band, I'm lucky enough that the one I'm currently in loves to play Beatles! I've got a baby home studio too, Cubase-based, but have never made a record. **Dreams ...** Do you read music? Do you know about this site? www.icce.rug.nl/~soundscapes/DATABASES/AWP/awp-notes_on.shtmlTake care, and thanks!

Thanks for the link Alexis.
The Ye Cracke is still there and hasn't changed one bit. Still one of the best pubs in Liverpool in my opinion.

I didn't realize you were a musician. I am too - although it's been quite a while since I've played anything. But it gives a much fuller perspective when answering questions. Good to know that little piece of info.

That's a very good question and one I can't be open about on this forum.
However, Beatles related, perhaps Hamburg in 1962 at the Star Club to see The Beatles play. Or may be on the roof of Apple for the 'roof top' concert.
By the way, I still love that picture of Gillian Anderson you have. Shame she still doesn't look like that!

Hey there Mr Kite.
My favourite pub is probably the Swann Inn in Liverpool. We never went there as it is in the other end of town. Not far from the Philharmonic. It's got the best rock jukebox and it's played loud!
The bands going well. If you happen to be in Preston on St Patricks night I'll be playing there.
