The best Aretha Franklin album cover is from her days on Columbia, before she hit it big on Atlantic. The album was called Yeah.
For some reason, it won't let me link to the cover. If you google images of Aretha Franklin Yeah you will see what I mean. She is looking at you over sunshades. I had to edit this a couple of times before giving up.
Oh, and my wife and I took a selfie at the corner of 4th Street and Jones Street, at or near the spot where Dylan and his girlfriend were photographed for the cover of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan album, last year when we were in NYC. Trees on the side of Jones Street have grown up so you can not see the buildings very well.

Great cover. Fascinated that you walked that street.

On our previous trip to NYC, we had also walked up and down Jones Street, a short street that connects Bleecker Street with 4th Street (as on "Positively 4th Street.") I told my wife that a famous album cover photo had been shot there. At the intersection of 4th and Jones is a record shop. We went up to the front window, and, lo and behold, was the Freewheelin' vinyl album, prominently displayed. I just about freaked out when I told my wife that was the album cover I had been telling her about.
She told me I needed to go back to the store and purchase the album as a souvenir. We made it back last year, but the album was no longer available. But on the previous trip the album had been displayed along with several other classic album covers such and Meet the Beatles and Let It Be.

I remember back then the LP cover art was almost as important as the music it displayed. That's why there was such a hubbub when the Beatles wanted the babys butcher cover for the Yesterday & Today cover and Capitol refused. There also were a few covers that were naughty that got released and then changed. Blind Faith, Moby Grape and MoM's Apple Pie are some I remember.

On the Moby Grape the one member was giving the middle finger and later the lp cover they brushed out the finger. on MoM's Apple Pie they had a picture of a vagina in the cut of the pie that was brushed out later. Blind Faith they originally had a nude 11 year old girl holding an airplane that was changed to a basic picture of the band.

And of course John & Yoko's naked lp cover that was changed later on.

I can't call this cover a "classic", but I certainly spent much time looking at it back in 1961...... ....the sweaters may be cheesy, but those Fenders looked great!

I am surprised that they were not photographed in their trademark suits.

They usually were, Pothos, as this early album shows.... Jet still has a Framus bass, and Bruce has a Vega cello guitar.
