Sargent Pepper per chance The Best of the Cheeky Girls ha ha .........yes Pepper, it always annoys me when other albums are ranked higher, like cheating greatest hits packages or soundtrack albums.

Sargent Pepper per chance The Best of the Cheeky Girls ha ha .........yes Pepper, it always annoys me when other albums are ranked higher, like cheating greatest hits packages or soundtrack albums. Bearing in mind that this was the top 40 best selling albums. The fact that 'Pepper' was released in 1967 just over 50 years ago gives the album a distinct advantage over, say Radiohead's OK Computer which was released just over 20 years ago. I'm not suggesting for one minute that OK Computer is a better album than 'Pepper' (although it comes a very, very close second in my opinion) but Adele must be doing something right to be in second place with an album released a mere 7 years ago?

I wonder if in 50 years time Adele releases a super deluxe version of her album that gets to number one, somehow i doubt it. Obviously at my age i preferred when you had to by a physical album and there was no such thing as downloads counting towards sales. I love the fact that The Beatles with Please Please me album stayed at Number one for 30 weeks and was knocked off the top spot by ...The Beatles and With The Beatles.

A worthy winner
Interesting though that Bridge Over Troubled Water was in there . Probably the first album I ever heard and I still loved it now as then ( 1970 ! )
