History knows that Astrid Kirchner helped to create the Beatles haircut but over the years the lads developed a real sense of personal style. After watching the Fool on the Hill video where Paul looks unbelievably cool; how did they create their look. No such thing as a stylist in those days but everything from the Sergeant Pepper outfits to their more everyday suits showed they set the tone even on the fashion front. Any ideas how this happened.

Oh, I don't know about the "no stylists" thing. I had a cousin who was a barber. He lived and worked more or less across the state from me. But I had him cut my hair in 1967, the year of MMT.
My cousin liked the way he made me look and wanted to look to last for a few hours. He did not want me to get under a shower and wash it all out. Meanwhile, I am the type of guy who gets all itchy from haircuts. I need to get under a shower really soon.
But I am pretty sure my cousin considered himself a "stylist" as far back as 1967. He was proud of his work. His tombstone has engraved drawings of a comb and scissors.

Henry I meant those fashion stylists that bands have now. I think the acts had a sense of fashion off their own bat.

Pothos, I think you're right about the influence of Astrid and the other Hamburg "exis" on their style. After all, at the time they were wearing pink jackets and flat caps! Once they bought leather jackets, then later, trousers, their cool look was established.
