Does anyone recall seeing The Beatles singing Paperback Writer and Rain on Top of the Pops in 1966. Apparently a rare live appearance.

Apparently a rare live appearance. i think all you can find if you go on youtube are still photographs of their performances. Unfortunately in the old days they tended to re-use old tapes , they were not to know then how historically important these performances were to become. The same went for some classic comedies i the sixties too. When the BBC showed a history of Top Of The Pops programme the realised the had no copies of any Beatle footage, everyone else of note were shown, we were left with i think a performance of Instant Karma.

There's this 8mm tape (very poor quality) of Can't Buy Me Love on TOTP
And 27 seconds of Paperback Writer. All that remains I'm afraid.

I loved it , Can't Buy me love is pleasant but has never been a favourite with me, this however seems to me live and is much more exciting. I'm amazed even with this grainy footage that the BBC did not snap it up and show it, maybe the owner wanted a lot of money for them to show it.
