That was George's cherry red 1964 Gibson SG serial 227666. He got that right before the Revolver lp (1966) and used it on there. You can also see it on the music videos for 'Rain' & 'Lady Madonna'. 'Hey Bulldog' was recorded in ten sessions on Feb. 11,1968, and George used it on that. George and John also used it later on the White lp sessions. George then gave the guitar to Peter Ham of Badfinger and was used on 'No Matter What', 'Day After Day' & 'Baby Blue'. After Peter died it passed on to his brother and it was sold in 2004 for $570,000 USD.

So George used on the actual recording of Hey Bulldog then I got all my books out and there was nothing I could find that verified it

Here was an article in 'Guitar World' magazine about it. www.guitarworld.com/song-facts-beatles-hey-bulldogAnd some photos of the session with one John messing with it while George took a tea break. And the last photo you can see George actually using it while taping with recording headphones.

The Gibson SG is a great guitar. Rather homely-Looking compared to a Strat, but they have a great sound.

They are becoming very popular with the ladies. Two of my favorite women guitarists are using them. Kazu Makino with her Little White Tiger. and Samantha Fish.

It's such a shame what Peter Ham & Tom Evans of Badfinger went through with their management! Got so bad financially that they both hung themselves! If Pete would have only knew what his guitar would finally fetch one day he may have held on! R I P Pete & Tom.
