You realize Ringo turned 77 on 7-7-17.
Seven must be to Ringo as nine was to John.

Happy Birthday Ringo.
Amazed at how the first Beatles image looks Britpop in style and composition.

It must be coming up the 50th anniversary of The Beatles split?. Well, I usually mark the Beatles' split at sometime in the spring of 1970, when Paul made the big announcement that he was quitting the Beatles and that the group was breaking up. The other three could have resented that last part of the statement and stayed together as a trio, but since George and Ringo had temporarily left the band previously, and John had been desperately wanting to quit since 1966 (according to the PB interview), they all agreed that the Beatles were indeed splitting up. So it's been a little over 48 years now. What made me feel old in 1987 was when the number-one hitmaker on the top 40 charts was 17-year-old Debbie Gibson, who was born year the Beatles broke up. And now she's pushing 50.

Yes henryj it was Friday, April 10th, 1970, when Paul made his announcement. Which really po'ed John!! john was the leader of the group and should have been the one to make the announcement. For just this one little incident, John and Paul would never be close again as friends.

Continuing with the hijacking of this thread...
One can only speculate how much longer the Beatles would have been together had Paul not broken them up. Maybe 1975 when John retired to being a househusband? Or 1972, when he moved to NYC? Pure conjecture.

Didn't they have some songs written for the new LP that was never recorded Paul had some he put on his solo lp. And George had a backlog of songs that he never got to put on Beatle lps because he was only allowed to put on one or two. Ringo of course couldn't write so he just used songs he liked or a song John and Paul gave him. And John probably had a bunch he didn't need Paul to finish. So they probably could have lasted awhile just releasing those and not seeing one another. Of course dumbass Capitol probably would have screwed that up.

Then they might have reunited in 1980.

Didn't they have some songs written for the new LP that was never recorded Well, I don't know that they were planning a new album, but I am pretty sure that John, Paul, and George were constantly writing songs. I would like to know what John had written between the completion of Abbey Road and April 10, 1970. I've always had the impression that the Plastic Ono Band songs from the album of that name were all or mostly a reaction to the breakup of the Beatles.
