1966, The Beatles played two shows at Rizal Memorial Football Stadium, Manila, in the Philippines to over 80,000 fans. The Beatles failed to appear at a palace reception hosted by President Marcos' family, who were not informed that the Beatles had declined their invitation. The Philippine media misrepresent this as a deliberate snub and when Brian Epstein tries to make a televised statement, his comments are disrupted by static. The next day, as The Beatles make their way to the airport they were greeted by angry mobs, the Philippine government had retaliated by refusing police protection for The Beatles.

I think it was Lennon who noticed that the Police were trying to kick the Beatles in the airport shouting at the band , we treat you like normal people , which Lennon found amusing that this is the way they treat normal people.

From what I understand, that was the straw that broke the camel's back and caused the Beatles to quit touring. According the The Love You Make by Peter Brown, the Beatles were separated from the luggage, which contained their marijuana. If they had been caught in possession of weed they could have had their hands cut off, it is said.

I remember loving his explanation of the first time the Beatles took l.s.d courtesy of Dr Robert spiking their coffee. Great book from what i remember.

Despite of all the kicking around from the military there later on. It was the largest crowd that the Beatles had ever performed before! Just shows you how a few bad can ruin it for the masses.
*I believe this is the only know footage of the concert.

They were suppose to make a foreign released movie of that. Don't know whatever happened to it. There's a trailer to it on YouTube in Spanish or whatever language they are speaking.

Seems silly to have a trailer. They are speaking a version of the Philppine language of which there are many dialects, or they could be making it up as they go along ha ha. Knowing me if it does come on dvd i'll have to fork out for a deluxe edition at £999
